Well today is a momentous day, going to see FC and possibly (probably) get to see little man too!!!! Couldn't sleep last night. Excited - yes Nervous - yes Emotional - yes Saw lots more photos on Tuesday and a few videos - really cute and adorable. He has started to roll over now and has 2 teeth! All at 4.5 months. Also been able to read through lots of associated reports as well as CPR (CPRs don't contain that much do they?). So, picking DH up from work after lunch and then continuing on the journey this afternoon. House is still in chaos with the decorating, but every day I do a bit more... (Nesting?)

What an incredible day. Surreal. He is absolutely gorgeous, all chubby and squidgy and smiley and giggly. FF are lovely too and gave us lots of info. Seeing paediatrician next Thursday - I've emailed lots of questions. DH and I are really hoping nothing comes up to put a spanner in the works.

Fabulous! Amazing you got to meet him too! Did you both get to hold him? Hope all goes well with paediatrician. They won't be able to predict the future but ask about what their opinion is on worst case scenario. Sounds like you have made a decision to proceed already!
Any talk of preliminary dates for matching panel or intros?
Keeping fingers crossed for you!

Seeing paediatrician next Thursday. We realise that we are likely to get limited info due to his age 4.5 months. Panel date the following Thursday.

Just another thought about questions for paediatrician.....
Results of antenatal bloods - HIV & Hep B/C (usually do hepatitis as well as HIV if drug use)
Was LO given Hep B vaccination (usually given if history of IV drug use) and if given when is next immunisation as not on usual immunisation schedule

Thanks for the comments, LB: LO was given Hep B vaccination. LO not tested for HIV, as BM tested negative in July 2013 (when she was 2 months pregnant with LO). We have asked the question though as to is there any risk of LO having HIV. Re Hep C: So far his RNA is negative for Hep C but he does have some antibodies that possibly were passed on by mum. Dr gave the example that measles and chickenpox antibodies are passed on by mother to baby but they disappear in the first 12 months. LO will need a further blood test to check for antibodies at 12-18 months of age. The uncertainty is awful, but not much we can do.

There don't seem to be many books on effects of drug exposure in utero. I've read Bruised Before Birth. But other than that I guess I'll have to search through scientific paper publications...

If you want Scaredycats I can let you have copies of what our local medical advisor did on drug exposure - and also ask my DH for his advice - he is a pharmacist who deals with addicts a lot.
It's been interesting for him at times as he has birth parents coming into his shop - not Sqk's I must add - we would never have been considered for a child from that part of our LA.

No, not long, jmk, feeling slightly stressed by all the stuff that needs to be done before intros in a few weeks' time! Finish painting hall/ stairs and landing. Finish painting bedroom ceiling following a leak. Scaffolding and repairs to roof for said leak taking place next week. Back door being removed and replaced with chip board while it gets repaired. Radiator being fitted in kitchen - which means flooring being ripped up! Buggy to choose and buy (we looked in JL today and liked Buggaboo and Silver Cross) Baby items to buy - nappies - cosmetics - muslins - clothes - milk........
Scary! Can't believe it is happening, but so exciting! When to let friends know what is happening?? (So far only told family)

Gosh so much going on in your house. How long till intros? Hope repairs/refurbishment goes to plan and finishes quickly! We were given so much by FC both times - didn't need to buy clothes for months (although wanted to and felt like LO was more mine when dressed in clothes I bought) See if you can have FC's email address /phone number so you can find out exactly what will be coming with LO. When it comes to buggies if LO is 5.5 months you won't need the carrycot attachment but definitely go for one that can do parent facing and lay flat. We have the baby style Oyster which I love and still looks new more than 2 years in and sure it will last for babybee. We find it very handy to have a car seat that fits the buggy too so if LO is sleeping when we arrive somewhere in a car we can just leave her in the car seat and clip it into the buggy. We have a Britax car seat. You probably don't need something else to think about/plan but it is recommended that babies are started on solids at about 6 months. FC may start earlier though and if so follow her lead on foods. I personally like the Annabel Karmel Complete baby and toddler meal planner which gives lots of recipes and weekly meal plans - littlebees FC had also used Annabel Karmel recipes so therefore I used same recipes initially. There are lots of other books around and different ways to start solids including baby led weaning so if you have a chance have a read online or buy/borrow some books. I like to have a freezer shelf full of home made purées/meals I can use and then add in finger foods and bits of our meals too. I remember filling the freezer with meals during both set of intros even though we only started solids 6 weeks after babybee came home!
Good luck and thinking of you!

Thanks for all your messages of support, guys. Intros start 8th August! Re weaning - we know FC just gives him Aptamil - so we shall start introducing foods once we have him - so pleased that I can do this bit :-) DH and I still discussing names, but DH sooooo fussy and will only accept 1 or 2 suggestions - luckily they are acceptable names to me :-) He will come with some clothes but will need more as he is growing so quickly. Really don't know what do do re pram/ buggy - he's not old enough to sit unsupported. Sister and mum want to do baby shower, which is an idea I am slowly coming around to.... I've been looking at intro letters for friends and family and they seem like a really good idea - I've seen a template of one for a younger child/ baby on this forum which I'm thinking of adapting and using.
