And so tomorrow is the day we meet the FC. Excited, scared, excited..lol. We are meeting at FC home so will give us a great opportunity to work out timings to get there. Quite a distance from us, so it has been suggested that we travel lodge or similar it during intros... So I am planning on taking a bunch of flowers with us tomorrow when we meet FC..nothing elaborate but just wanted to say thank you for all the photos they sent us, and also a lot of information that they have put together tomorrow for us..do you think that would be ok? Or we we look a bit silly ? Did I mention we are excited..tomorrow we get to see where our potential LO is living, how exciting is that. X

I've never had flowers at this stage but would be delighted to receive them!
I've never done first meet at my house either - always been at prospective adopters. I'd assumed that was incase something unforeseen happened at panel and the match didn't go ahead...
Hope everything went well Amberle.

Well what a day!! So met FC who is ace. Has been doing this for years and We were literally given so much information, we actually had no more questions at the end..lol. I got a bit emotional a couple of times, when we first walked in there was a little pair of white and pink shoes on the side..OMG our baby lives here..but I held it together, then we got to see more photos, some recordings and got given the routine for a week. But all in all the best few hours someone could spend..so know what nappies she wears, what milk she drinks and what her likes and dislikes are. It's like we already know her. We also spoke with FC about contact after placement, and she has asked just for updates a few times a year just so she knows what's going on, and that is exactly what she will get. So next stage MP...then our life just gets started...

Emotions are all over the place..lol. I still find it strange that you can feel such emotion ( I won't call it love but a deep rooted protection type emotion) for a complete stranger in essence..however hard I try not to think about her..it's 24/7 a day.. I know everything in me says not get attached, until MP it's not over..but it's done, I'm hooked, I'm attached..I'm her mum! So this weekend we are taking the photos for intro book, have brought a book called whozat off amazon. It's a soft book, that you can put 5 photos in and has a teething ring type handle..still debating on the talking Tomy book as well..but we will start with this one. It's been great knowing this is happening as DH helped me with front of the house last weekend, a few little jobs that have been needing doing since last summer..so now all the front is done, the hanging baskets. Did look fab, so the photos will look great and with sprinklings of colour and a fixed front fence..lol. Maybe I should pretend I am doing photos of every room in the house and all the DIY would be done..mmmm..lol.

Hm, maybe I need a hint of one of mine being adopted to give me a shove into doing something about my own house!!
It's lovely to read how excited you are Amberle. After going through a number of adoptions though I always say now not to stress too much about "the book" - social workers LOVE the talking ones (think they have shares in them!) but I think a cheap old scarp book from Tesco is far more personal - can fit bigger, better pictures in and decorate it to suit the age of the child. A DVD is even better if you can face that.

Oohhh Amberle such a joy reading your updates.... Your joy & excitement jumps off the page..... You are giving me goosebumps!?
I love remembering my excitement & last minute preparations for when baa & skweek finally landed... Bought loads of supplies it really helped as a singlie with 2 toddlers at the run it was manic To say the least once they moved in....
Last minute jobs around the house were a godsend.... Never bothered with some & they had been outstanding for years?!? Also managed to do lots of ' new' household DIY preparation.... So so glad I did coz I would NEVER have gotten around to it once placed?!? I did all these before matching panel.... Figured it was too late to worry if panel said no & the jobs themselves ( in the main ) needed doing anyway & the supplies would always just be supplies so not wasted!? Iykwim....
Sooo happy for you loving your excitement it's infectious & marvellous.... Thank -you... ...

Congratulations Amberle! Exciting times ahead. I love the excitement coming through your posts.
Will your LO be about 12 months at placement? I think the soft photo album's are brilliant. We did a Galt one. We also did the Tomy photo album and our 1st DD (almost 11m at placement) liked both. We left them accessible for months after placement and she frequently picked them up and flicked through them. We included a soft toy in our photos which we had slept with in bed for a week which also got passed on to DD on the 1st day we met her to get used to our scent. It is still her favourite toy (we have 2 identical in case 1 goes missing or needs a wash!)
We also bought a helium balloon with a photo of me and DH. At the top it had "mummy & daddy" then underneath the photo it had "littlebee's forever family" We ordered it on balloon monkey, it came on a ribbon with a weight and she loved it! By the end of intros she was apparently kissing our faces on the balloon when FC talked about us. We still have the deflated version in her memory box.
This time we had a cushion cover made with a photo of us on. We also had a teething ring with 4 slots for photos but I tried to sterilise it in our steriliser and managed to melt the plastic covers for the photos - oops!
Good luck and enjoy nesting! Looking forward to reading more of your journey.

Thanks all. We were going to do a toy, but FC in a round about way said they thought it would be waste of time, and the hassle if one goes missing is it worth it? I saw a mr tumble soft toy which I thought would be great.. The support on here is great, although I am still worried I will bore you all..lol. She will be just before 13 months if dates don't change, so sadly miss her 1st birthday but hey means next year she gets a better one..lol. Oooh a scarp book, I thought f that but my creativeness I am hoping will come out once the arts and crafts start..she does not speak obviously t the moment, but is likely to if she saw our creation..along the lines of ..mummy really! I could of done better and I'm not even 2!!!obviously said with hands on hips and eyes rolled to the ceiling..lol. And a DVD...ehhhh quick change of subject...oh look it's raining again..lol. X

How many sleeps? Ehhh I have not got to that level of detail yet..lol. But as you ask...33 days to MP and 51 sleeps to day 1 intros.
I read everyone's posts too, I find them so helpful. Just knowing that there is someone there who can advise, support or just listen for me is a godsend. And if over time through experience I eventually can do any of the above so much the better. Xx

Bore us never.... Me I'm infamously a fan As Jmk says brings so very many happy memories back.....
I loved the idea ... Think it was from one of our wonderful f/c.... If buying a special cuddly toy then buy a few identical.... They then could be introduced & washed by rote without totally loosing the right 'smell'.... Thought that just brill.... I have friends whose l/o have to be surgically removed from their special little cuddly... I like that when awake they have said toy but when asleep another identical one can be added to pick up smells or even given mummy smells.... That way when swopped for original to get a wash trauma is reduced coz it smells right iykwim...
Really good tip.....

And so as I promised at the beginning of this diary, I would add all ramblings and thoughts, as crazy as they may be running through my head..lol and this is one of them, so you have been warned So yesterday all going well, got my hair done, DH got his cut all ready for our big photo shoot today - well DH and I doing intro photos today...but it's a huge thing for us as neither like our photos being taken which is a bit of a strange one when we need to do them . We did think of waiting to the evening, having a few glasses of something to relax us, but thought probably best the first time LO sees us we are half cut..lol. Also we don't really drink so had nothing in the house anyway. Anyway off we go, David Bailey style and DH suddenly realises camera is not charged, doh epic fail. So puts it on charge..all good. We then sit having a discussion about what photos we are going to do and where... All sorted. So off I go to LO room to tidy it up..not that there' s much in there but hey it's going in a lifetime photo book, so dusting of the window sill, and top of the chest of drawers..hoovering, oh and mmm maybe the cupboard will look better over here I suggest..so we move it, mmm no back where it was. Now don't get me wrong, the rooms not massive so it's not like I have loads of places to move things, and as you know we only put it together last week, so not like its been stood for ages..Anyway sorted all that, and we wait and we wait..DH checks the camera, nope still not charged..oh so a few hours in realises he had not actually switch it on. Classic! So after we have a good chuckle about this, I decided that I wanted to do photos with a toy in each one, and I did want to give LO this toy ( via SW) after MP. So off we go into town..now where we live means that nearest town for this kind of thing is 20 miles or so away. Which is fine especially when your on an important mission like this. Anyway clearly we are in a main town, so we may have been sidetracked to a few other shops on the way to the one we were heading to.. Keeping the economy going and all that! So after finally agreeing on which toy we would get..apologies to all the other toys that we picked up, discussed and then left behind..but we went with a white rabbit, pink ears pink nose and floppy..great for shoving in my handbag in years to come should it be travelling with us anywhere, also machine washable, and we brought 2 (as advised on here previously). So off we went back to the car, as we were walking back to our car the rain started..and boy did it start.. We got soaked, anyway hair ruined, clothes soaking etc etc not really the intro pictures we were hoping for..so we did stop on the way home picked up a bottle of wine and agreed that Sunday is a good day for photo shoots.. xx

Welcome to the world of parenting where the best laid plans will nearly always go awry. Your post made me laugh so many times. Think you should mess up your hair big time, paint dark circles under your eyes and add loads of gey hair and wrinkles, other wise your new LO won't recognise who the well groomed, rested, wrinkle free people are in her intro books. LOL

D'ya know I think it was pear tree who put the most marvellous thread on the old place.... Something like you know you are ready to be a mum when you can do the following......
Put a live octopus into a string shopping bag ...a live goat to the supermarket.....
Think we need to ask peartree I remember crying with laughter.... If it wasn't peartree I am sure she will know who it was....

I did the live octopus into a shopping bag today (I'm assuming this is the same as the Starfish toddler tantrum?) In church. In the middle of prayers. Amberle, Sundays are a much better day for photoshoots, but does this mean you had wine for breakfast?? (Am often quite tempted by that myself!! )

JMK - have we met? Thought I would hide the Grey hair with a bit of colour, no point scaring the poor child just yet And as for black circles and wrinkles ehhh experience lines and I'm just prepping myself for lack of sleep..lol. The fact that I have been preparing for what seems like a lifetime we won't mention.

No wine for breakfast, we had a whole bottle last night. . Managed to do the front of the house, 2 out of the 3 cats they stayed awake ( nothing at all to with the tuna I was blackmailing them with) and LO room. Off to park in a bit to take photo of swings, not going yet as still quite busy, and don't want to look too weird taking photos of a park with kids running around.. pictures of us, well ehhh , were still working on it.. Sounds like the photos are going well so far. Love the comedy moments!
We went to the park at 7am on a Saturday morning with a tripod to do our photos.first time round There was still a couple of people there but mainly dog walkers but we did get some funny looks!
Good luck and enjoy these times and store the memories of these preparations for your little ones.
