Simba has gone to camp, just me and Ed the cat, peace and quiet. A few chores to do, a bit of paperwork, Christmas shopping and the spa for me.
Love my boy to bits. I wouldnt change my life for the world, but its so intense when its just the two of you. Do us both good to have a break from each other

I meanwhile am taking DD to her first swimming party, made more "exciting" for me by the fact all the parents have to swim too. We both love swimming, no worries - but it's the being in a swimming costume in front of all the other mums that's the issue hahaha!

Kind of missing the little blighter now. no phone calls so assume everything is OK
My spa day not exactly as planned but I got another complementary facial out of it, so thats ok. Just been nice to be able to do things in peace, did quite a lot of Christmas shopping. Just contemplating buying us an ipad - will blow the Christmas slush fund

It's well worth it, I had no idea how indispensable it would be when I bought mine! Warning though, Simba will want to take it all the time, Starlet would be on it 24/7 if I let her!! Some fab free games around for little people though!

Sorry to jump in on his conversation, but I am presently computer less, (this one is on loan from my ex), and I'm thinking about whether to by a laptop or a tablet of some sort - (not an I-pad as funds are scarce), but was thinking of something like the Samsung one.
Having never used a tablet before what I wanted to ask is, is it easy to use? I mean as Admin on here, I have to send a lot of pm's and seem to do an awful lot of typing, how does that work on a tablet? Is it easy to use the keyboards? Or would I be better buying a laptop which I am familiar with?
I love the idea and portability of a tablet, but just wondered about the practicalities of using it everyday for extended periods of time.
Any thoughts would be very welcome to save me making a mistake when purchasing, which I will have to do fairly soon as ex will want this back soon, (it's his work one).

I'm not tech savvy at all, just not interested. and its really starting to annoy me the way people wave them about in the air to take photos ( nearest I can get to grumpy face) But this is the way that technology is going and I feel I have to keep up with it to keep up with Simba. I have a feeling that his future job prospects may lie in some computer based work, so I dont want to be left behind. I have a very expensive laptop which Simba has broken the hinge of, it kind of balances ! Its his constant jumping around me whatever I'm doing - its amazing that we havent had a serious accident yet in the kitchen, so I'm thinking for me its safer to having something lidless!! If Father Christmas decides to bring one he is bringing it to me and Simba can borrow it. He has his own little notebook that he got for his adoption day present so he's always got that. He only knows about IPads because next door have one. He is stictly limited on the computer and Wii, weekdays its one hour per day on one of them and weekends if he's been good and I'm feeling generous he can have an hour on both. We have an hour glass and he is quite good at sticking to his time. Personally I'm not sure I would want to do a lot of typing on an Ipad, unless I'm being totally stupid I can imagine it being quite difficult to type and see what you've done when its all flat

I find my iPad loads easier to use then my laptop. It's portable and so light it is genuinely possible to use it on your lap. Fr typing, not sure about other tablets but on the iPad a qwerty keyboard appears on screen and you just tap the letters. I am a fast typer and find it just as fast on an iPad :-)

well I have just examined and scrutinised the Christmas slush fund, compared to presents already made and what I have left to buy and it seems a tablet can be bought, though I had hoped it was going to be a Christmas and new Washing Machine slush fund
the Ipad would be more fun though!

If you stay home and play on the iPad instead of going out, you don't need to do any washing you can just be smelly by yourself :-)
Incidentally I could never have afforded he newest model, I bought an iPad 2 and I love it.

I have an iPad mini & I love it. It is really easy to type on but if you do a lot of typing you can get a kind of portable keyboard that just connects & it becomes a laptop. Not got one myself but I think you can get them for most if not all iPads/tablets. You get he best of both worlds :-)

Waaaaaaaaahhhh I have only just found this thread again, after hijacking it to ask your advice on whether to buy a laptop or an Android tablet (no way can I afford an i-pad). I have spent the last 11 days trying to find this post!!!! Well not the entire time obviously. So it seems like I could buy a tablet and maybe a plug in keyboard as I do have to type a lot. Hmmmmmmm must go and do some research as I'm terrified eX is going to ask for his laptop back and as I am now Admin on here I really do need something Arrrragggghhh! Any affordable recommendations? - Am thinking about the Samsung Galaxy 10" one which is around £230, (top end of my budget), but it does seem to do everything I want and has had great reviews on Amaz*n. Anyone got one?

Ooohhhh... What's a nexus 7 b.w...... I am thinking baa & skweek... They have never had pooters or games before & I think maybe I am harming them as all their mates have nintendo thingies & different gadgets.... They would also maybe be able to go on line for homework ( hiss boo ) hate the idea what's wrong with reading & writing..... But I have to get more with it.... Oh I am a technophobe by the way!!

That new Tesco one has had good reviews and costs just over £100 - haven't seen one myself and am not sure if you can get the keyboard thing for it but it could be worth looking at. Good luck!

Nexus 7 is an android tablet, it compares favourably to an ipad mini especially on price!

Just had to post about an Angel on these boards!!! I have had a pm from a lovely member (who wishes to remain anonymous) to say that she has a spare laptop which she doesn't need anymore and she is going to give it to me so that I can continue to help run this site to help others !!!!! She is an Angel and has restored my faith that there are lovely people in the world. I am beyond delighted. as money is really tight and every penny counts. Turns out her Mum doesn't live a million miles away from me and she is going to drop it round to me next week when she visits her Mum, so I will get to thank her in person. Just wanted to share my wonderful news with you all One extremely happy jmk
