Since there seem at least three writers on here, I thought I would start this thread. Completely not adoption related, just for us to nudge each other, cheer each other on, discuss writing etc. Alternatively, if you are interested or if you would prefer, we could group pm each other.
I certainly need reminding to make time and space, maybe run the odd idea past buddies.

Excellent, sounds fab. I'm kind of leaning to doing group or individual PM's, as I his is kind of so far removed from adoption topics. Not sure what settings people have, I'm sure not everyone would want to get alerts re budding writers. But happy to stay with h this thread if that's what you prefer.

Iโm a writer too! Gave up my teaching job to give it a real go December 2018. What genres does everyone write? Iโm trying to get an agent at the moment for my YA novel. My strongest work did have a hint of fantasy, but on mentoring advice itโs become more of a psychological thriller.

Book club fiction... did an MA finishing early last year and have one first draft from that and another half draft from nanowrimo last November... I realised half way through that I could t actually go through intros anc bring a new baby home and wrote 3000 words a day... vastly over estimate my actual capacity ๐๐
V good at starting/ ideas/ first drafts... terrible at polishing them and fixing gaping plot holes

Children's books here. Lots of picture books - without the pictures, but since my middle one is now at uni studying illustration, I feel this bit is at least in hand. One first draft of a trilogy, all the ideas for the other books are in my mind, but since I'm terrible at revising first book and editing to my heart's content, I'm struggling. I'm looking into self publishing and know someone who earns quite good money from it.
Choti, you made me giggle, 3000 words a day with a new baby. I could not even do this 6 years into placement with just one and you've got a whole bunch of them! I can't imagine how you get anything done, you're amazing.
Welcome to the club, Beckabecks. :-)

Have you looked at Jericho writers? Loads of really useful resources and info. I did the festival of writing twice and it helped me polish my manuscripts!
