After months of trying to cope with my LOs slow eating I totally lost it this morning. I'm really ashamed of myself. It's probably our third big bust up ever and I promised myself I wouldn't get to that point again. Some horrible things were said mostly by me and I have apologised but am feeling really low.

it happens - you are human - you modelled getting it wrong and acknowledging you did, important for your wee one to see - we have all done it and survived

Think we've all been there Piglet, I know I have, we're human. The fact that you have apologised shows that even parents can make mistakes and you can say sorry and still love each other. Good lesson for LO to learn. Hope you feel better soon.

Oh Piglet, as the others have said you are only human... and like jmk said by saying sorry and making up it teaches our LO's how to repair friendships themselves. Know it doesn't make you feel any better though.
We all do it.... I have been known to mutter under my breath things like well Dan Hughes would be struggling today or Mother Tersea would be sorely tried by now!!! Ha ha.

You are only human, so sometimes can not be therapeutic. Do not beat yourself up....tomorrow is another day xx

I am feeling a bit better and smileycat made me laugh. Mother Teresa would have been sorely tried!
Unfortunately LO got in trouble today for hurting someone in the playground. First time so I feel a little guilty that it's a result of our row but also strangely relieved she is displaying behaviour to others rather than just me - but it feels a bit wrong to feel that too. Ah well!

Yep sorry to say I have been guilty too on occasions... Don't they say 'to err is to be human '....... Like you I feel so guilty afterwards & always say how very sorry I am... Baa & skweek forgive me & we get to cuddle lots.... Which is great for all of us.... But I feel soo guilty.... Don't beat yourself up....my 2 seem to 'like' that we mumeeeees are not perfect!!

As the others have said, just because we are adoptive parents we don't have to be perfect. I think we are all guilty of beating ourselves up over things that other (not necessarily bad) mothers don't even think about. Would also agree that you have modelled how to apologise sincerely (and your LO knows how it feels to receive an apology). I think you have done really well.

I think the important thing is that you have said sorry and kissed and made up. Simba has a behaviour target every week, this week he suggested I need one - to stop being shouty mummy

Thank you all for making me feel much better. A friend remarked to me the other day that she had never seen me shout in my life. How times change! We have kissed and made up, had cuddles, had tea in front of the tv and consumed a large quantity of macaroons!

Glad you are feeling a bit brighter Piglet. It happens to all of us.
On Saturday last week I was awarded a medal for 'Patience in the face of extreme provocation' - and I felt very saintly! On Sunday, the awards body reclaimed my medal as I failed to maintain the required standard. I was instead nominated for the 'Common Fishwife Award' - but was pipped at the post by a delightful mother of 3 little horrors in Asda!

The phrase 'you're only human' came to me too then I thought, no, surely porcine? (PIGlet, get it?) and as for moo and cowgirl, they are just bovine I must be elastine.....certainly don't feel very human at the moment Have some happy times together this weekend!

Ha ha Larsti. We will certainly try. We are off to see a play about farm's tomorrow so your comment is very fitting.
