Mackerel's current placement seems to be working really well. The care home are talking to us and working with us, and they seem able to keep him occupied and off the streets. He's saying positive things about coping with his emotions, needing help, etc. School also are managing him well (it's two staff to one pupil at the moment) and again working with us.
We're not quite sure how he got into this school but it seems to be brilliant at the moment. Costing the LA and us taxpayers a fortune, but if they'd paid out for Family Futures or similar ten years ago when we begged for it...

Fab news Corkwing. So pleased for you and Kermit to know he is making progress and hopecully it will continue. Great that they are all working with you and it is a partnership as it should be. He needs to see everyone working together. I totally get what you said about FF. If only there was funding available. Everyone knows they are great and yet SS rarely pay for us to use them. False econonmy as years in care costs a hell of a lot more and not just in terms of finances. Onwards and upwards xx

That's brilliant news! Don't look back though (I try not to though have reason to wish certain things had been done years ago too. Perhaps we all do? But maybe our children wouldn't have responded as well back then?)

So good to know that skilled people can still make a difference to Mackerel's life. Thank goodness you managed to get him into that school before he had got too hard boiled to respond.
Happy Christmas Corkwing, and a Hope-filled new year!

So nice to finally hear some positives for Mackerel - let's hope it's a long term thing and not just a honeymoon period. Professionals who listen and communicate? Wow!
It also offers hope to the rest of us that, no matter how bad things seem to get, there are possible solutions out there.
