LM has been after a PS 4 for Christmas every year since he's been home. This year I have got as far as researching it and am not keen on the wifi/interact with strangers aspect. How do your kids manage? Or do they not have one? From what I can see there are hardly any age appropriate games to get. Is this the case. Thanks Esty.

We've avoided them for that reason - I did here of one child who'd managed to contact their birth family via a games console....
We do have a wii but it had no internet access and all our games are age appropriate....they would like some of the more popular ones but I have said no.

That was my worry - in the heat of the moment he'd be thinking 'oh my ********** (birth brother) would love this game let me see if he is on here' with no thought of the consequences.

No, no and no again.
I'm just not savvy enough for all this, and the games just not acceptable.
Simba has a Wii but no internet access with it

For same reason we had concerns as well. Fortunately ds1 ( who knows why ds2 has to be careful) pursuaded ds2 that ps3 had better games ! Nice to be saved a strop !

I have a PS3 and am happy to answer any questions. My LO is that much younger at the moment and all he knows how to do is switch it on and find Minecraft. You will need to connect it to the internet every now and again for system updates and updates for games, but other than that it can be used without internet connection. There are parental control settings as well as network settings which allow passwords to be set for any network access as well as control over age related games, DVDs, etc.
I probably haven't explained this very well, as I am rushing around this morning as I prepare for my LO's friend to come around for our first sleepover, but if you have any specific questions I will do my best to answer them.
