Following on from schools meals
he has lost his bus pass, his watch, and instead of going to his music lesson, which of course I pay for, he went to play table tennis

Big School has been a nightmare here too. Too much independence. I've seen behaviour that I never thought he was capable of. It's easing off now as have very close link with Transition teacher but the first 6 weeks were horrendous.

Can really sympathise. This sounds so familiar and I used to get so cross (still do sometimes) Constantly losing things and forgetting to go to music lessons, it drove me nuts. She has got slightly better thank goodness ! but still needs constant reminders to make sure she has everything each morning, and to remember to bring home the things she needs for homework. We might manage to be organised by the time we reach 6th form! I think it is just so overwhelming when they start at secondary school; I think most children struggle at first. They are nurtured far more at Primary and find it so difficult at first. I am sure things will improve once he is more settled.

Can't say she's much better now a year on...............
And school thought she was settling in well

My dd, now year 10, has gradually improved. Has lost several bus passes and had to pay for a new maths book this week, but kind of manages now. I'm not 100% sure she'd always remember every homework sheet but they're all online now so that's not an issue. (And the fact they have the system suggests it's a common problem)
Bus incident doesn't sound good. I was very keen for dd not to have to use a bus because I knew there'd most likely be incidents and felt we had enough to deal with without those as well. Luckily she didn't have to until she moved schools earlier this year. And she hasn't had any incidents - not peer related anyway. She was once on a bus that had a minor accident to which she was a witness. She's older and a bit wiser, plus we live out of catchment so not many kids travel her way.
But yes all very fraught. I'm reasonably confident that for Dd2, going to secondary next year, things won't be as bad. For one thing she is highly organised.....mostly.

I feel so much better now over the fact that my oldest has a bike, locked it and lost the key, it was already the spare one. That my youngest looses his glasses all the time and I told the dentist yesterday that he will not get braces any time soon until he is responsible enough to take care of the glasses. And I will only agree to something glued on to his teeth! do you think anyone will notice if I super glue the glasses on to his nose? I pressume a bus pass you.could superglue on to his arm!

To be fair to him he did manage to look after it for over half a term
More concerned about the bullying incident at the bus stop at the moment, I have phoned school twice, sent an emil, I know they gave spoken to him about it, but I want to speak to them

College director finally phoned
Apparently it's the latest thing to grab someone's tie and pull the knot as tight as you can, this 'game' even has its own name. Obviously went too far on this occasion and boy is being dealt with
So, doesn't seem that Simba was being particularly singled out or picked on, unpleasant though it was

Glad to hear that Serrekunda
Tokoloshe, the bus pass thing resounds with me - my ds2 just had a new four weekly train pass, purchsed a month ago, then lost it two days later! No point in tying the pass to his blazer as said blazer was lost for five weeks last term ( till it was found in end of term clearouts at school ) unfortunately the pass never reappeared. Big grrr here is the number of scrunched up, torn or soggy and disintigrating worksheets, booklets, handouts and even books, crammed into a rucksack that has almost every subject material crammed into it, to save himself having to repack his bag at night. We are contantly providing folders and urging him to use them for loose papers but they still come home in a nearly unusable state. He also has a full pencil case but never seems to have a suitable writing implement at homework time ! He too is in first year of secondary. His last primary teacher's biggest understatement last year was " Organisation is not ds2's strong point"

They sound like DS - he is now in S3 (third year of High school) and had improved slightly but scrumpled worksheets and lost keys are a constant theme - but DD who is two years younger is far better....hard to decide how much is early life issue and how much is normal teenage boy stuff!

Dd was keeping her bus pass in her phone case - given she can't be parted from her phone, that seems like a safe place (although to lose both would be doubly annoying). However she has now put the pass back in its wallet and left it at home this morning (always in a panic in the mornings even though she leaves very early, or rather, that's why she leaves very early). I ended up ferrying it to her by car wearing my slippers and not entirely fully dressed! (She did tell me she loved me when I passed it over though!)
