Hi Ad-minnie!
I did this for one night about 2 years after AD moved in. Was very worried - she has massive separation issues - but I seemed to fret more than she did! It helped that it was quite a while after placement, I think. I Skyped her from where I was and she was thrilled to do this and was allowed to stay up 'extra late' to speak to me (ie about 10 mins later than normal) to do this. She had my old teddie bear to look after until I got home, and had a new DVD to watch with DH the afternoon I was gone. So lots of treats for her but also ensuring she was based at home and had all her comforts. Once I'd seen her smiling little face on my laptop I could relax and boy was that lie in GOOD! Hope it all goes well.

Can't really tell you to stop worrying now can I, because I know you will anyway, but since DS is staying with his much loved Granny on an exciting "sleepover" I bet he'll be absolutely fine. It's you that probably won't sleep a wink! Seriously he will probably surprise you and have a fab time and will want to do it again soon, then you can do it monthly or weekly and have a night off just for you! Let us know how you/he get o. Your Anxiety shows how well you are attached to him LOL!

the first time I did was about 4 or 5 years into placement - my parents came and stayed at our house
shadette gave me a pair of her knickers and a pair of shoes to take with me so I could remember her!

Hey Minnie.... When I did this baa & skweek also were with their beloved Nannie... All of my copious planning went by the board as they loved it it was a HUGE adventure!!! Me I was a wreck!!!!! Really really struggled, felt like both arms had been chopped off!!! To say I missed them was an understatement!!! But once I slept WoW did I sleep..... I really needed it!! But d'ya know what it was so good for the boys somehow gave them a different perspective.... Familiar but an adventure rolled into one...... & the cuddles & kisses when I got back whoo hoo just the best!!
Try not to fret ( HA)....

We do OK on nights away as little boy is often in bed before one of us gets home and that can also coincide with Daddy going out before he wakes up, so he doesn't really notice the night time. I was more of a wreck taking him to nursery, and he didn't seem that bothered by my absence when he first went (it dawned on him after a few sessions that when we get to this place, Mummy leaves me and goes away - but then he became very attached to his carer and runs to hug her in the morning. So that's lovely and now we're both happy!)
