I went to one meeting......that was enough.....
Then when youngest wa in last year of primary I volunteered to help at a couple of things - got brownie points but no danger of being asked again!

Ut oh!! I went to one meeting about school when Snooz first started and they tagged pta on the end.....very sneaky if you ask me. I sat there wide eyed thinking oh carp! It was obvious from the start I wasn't going to fit in lol.
Best solution, say you can't commit but offer to run a stall or bake a cake should it be needed.
And run!!!! X

I volunteer to take my turn with the refreshments after rugby/ hockey, one Saturday a term, also to show willing ( to support the school) but i would never fit into pta either ( especially at ds2's posh school) I would be blocking, or spam marking notices if they came daily !!

Ohhh choti nooooooooo....
Ok emergency action needed.....?..
Can dh get an addiction to football training at appropriate sessions / saturdays?? Leaving you single handed & childcareless?? Or he's booked a family outing & bought the tickets already??.... how about George got a raging high temp?? Better yet how about sending dh!!! .... train him up about how to be tactless & wimpish!! Or just too plain truthful!!....Then maybe you might get yourselves blackballed!?! ....
That'll teach you girl xxxxx

A friend and I became quite active with the PTA, we used to laugh so much.....helping get things ready for events etc. someone would always come along and alter what we had just done! It became a bit of a competition to see what would get changed - now I have seen the light and moved towards it away from the PTA!

I am avoiding at the moment - unusally for me as I am usually someone who gets involved. But my volunteering is mainly in adoption stuff these days which is quite enough....
