Congratulations. Sadly, for me, tomorrow is the day I return to working full-time because the LA has withdrawn my adoption allowance. :-(

I have never even looked into it, I must admit. I always assumed my income was too high, even on four days. I assume it's even higher now, because unlike the AO, my extra day will be taxed. But when I have dealt with the thousand other things I haven't done, while also working more and doing the three-hour-plus round-trip to school on Mondays, I will investigate.
I would be delighted to make everyone's life easier by moving out of London, thus reducing my mortgage payments, and taking a more sensible job. But, oh, I can't do that for at least four years now because no one is able to guarantee me that any other LA will agree to keep paying DD's fees and boarding.
Sorry for hijacking your thread.

It's worth a look, I get child tax credits, my income is too high for working tax credits. As its based on the previous years income, if you applied and got it, you could drop your hours back. There is a calculator that you can do online, takes literally a few minutes, you could check if you are likely to be eligible before you go through the faff of applying

OK, I did the calculation. It said I could have £850. Which is not to be sniffed at, and of course I should have researched this ages ago, but won't be enough to let me cut my hours unfortunately.

But that would be from now to the end of the financial year, so would be more for the whole year. Did you calculate on the full time or part time working hours?

I put in full-time hours, but last year's salary. Which is a rather strange combination. I shall have to look further into this.
