Simba is trying to convince me that the following sentence is his own work and that he understands exactly what it means
Drum roll please
The class on 18th Century feminist zoologists and their favourite poems was very dull and tedious

So it was me that had the meltdown over homework this afternoon and I'm soul searching. ..and Internet surfing...to work out what the point of homework is. Think we are going to have a family discussion about it this evening. I don't really agree with it for primary school, DH had loads as a kid but finished school at 12 noon so...Our school's a bit hit and miss on what gets handed out and what's expected and I was all ready to give some spiel about skills for later life but I just don't believe it...I don't do homework, independent study come uni sure but we're a long way off that, expanding on a subject? Well that can happen with a TV show, a trip to town or a chance conversation can't it? Need an Alley cat strategy me thinks

Does the school's website have individual teacher's emails listed? I have found this to be the most effective way of communicating with teachers at secondary, and the majority have been very helpful. Some have even sent power points from class for us to go over as dd never remembers what she needs to do. I would email the teacher and explain the problem and ask them for more guidance.

I totally agree Rosie. As a teacher myself, I teach 18 classes (so over 400 students) and am also responsible for 290 as head of house. With the best will in the world, my time for speaking directly to parents or even students is so limited - but an email takes ten minutes to put together, the timing is in my control - I can send it again midnight or from the back of the assembly hall while someone else is speaking - and is just as useful for questions about lesson content or homework.
