Sounds like the Adoption support fund is already hitting the buffers due to local authority funding pressures - very worrying indeed.

Yes excellent. I listened yesterday and thought it gave good insight. Albeit that some of my friends were left with the impression that almost all adopters get £500/week adoption allowance and that it's now easy to get funds for therapy - it's amazing how a few words can leave the wrong impression. But at least they also heard that it's fairly common for adopted children to have significant problems above and beyond those faced by birth parents and the adoptive parents came across very well. This was the most realistic radio/tv piece of recent times I think - well done radio 4.

Whilst DH has been out of work we've been getting adoption allowances - I thought it was quite generous but nowhere near £500 a week per child - in fact nowhere near £500 a week for both!
