Big sigh.... sooooo glad today's over. My DS Spud- 2.5 excelled himself at out home ed group today..... really excelled himself. He managed to open a fire exit door- one of the pull down on the handle and it will open ones. He was granted- stressed because it had been raining this morning and he hadn't had the physical exercise I've found helps ahead of group, so he was sensory seeking to soothe by hanging from the doors. Thing was this door was just out of my sight in a corner and I turned my back for a second to get DD's drink and suddenly thought it's brighter in here- oh bleep it's 'cause Spud has opened the fire exit.
Thing is could he leave that door thereafter? Could he heck- so he was mad at me.
He needed to leave group as it wasn't right for him today but DD had the chance to participate in a science activity and I had to weigh it up and felt her needs right then won. It's a big deal she'll now do stuff without me at group and science is a weak area of mine and she wanted to do it...
So I had a stressed out little boy who hadn't had his morning exercise. Hmmm. You know how some people can just blend into a crowd.... well Spud isn't one of them. Got to laugh really.
I did the best I could to help him with his stress and when we got home Daddy was there and it was sunny. Daddy took one look at me and said Spud want to play outside. Wonderful Daddy.
Potato was so proud of herself for participating in the activity. I loved that Spud's stress was so not noticed by her!!!!!
Ah.... the joys of being an AP!!!!
