How are you coping ? I'm fine. 3 stories up in a very old building which has massive windows & breeze blowing through. The furthest i move is to the printer & catching my work as it flies about Cloudy here but still hot. Do feel for so many people. Head master on school gates this morning admonishing all those naughty parents that hadn't sent children in with hats. Mine was greased up like a Chanel cross swimmer & had hat. Ha ha what a perfect parent I am How are you getting on ?

Lovin' it.... can never figure where my complete unity with terrific heat comes from... I am usually always cold & suffer terribly as soon as it goes down by the tiniest notch.... Great right now coz not even I am cold Never do hats or sun cream.... we farmers are 'ard! in fact downright nutters but I guess being out in all winds & weathers we are hardier than those used to air con & being inside .... boys have smeared on the highest warp factor sunblock preparations you know the ones that last 8 hours.... don't do hats tho they can never keep em on ....
Enjoy I say it is great to lose the rain for a while xx

I lather it on Starlet who has beautiful olive skin and tans in minutes, but never think to do the same for me, who looks like a lobster within the same time frame! Never remember hats and if I do she loses them!
We had ridiculous numbers of students today turn up with no water bottles so they only got a drink with their lunch and then wondered why they felt sick by the afternoon!

Last night I was melting....quite literally I think!
Hot flushes and 30 degrees plus does not make a winning combination.
Snooz will burn in about 5 minutes so sunblock and hat is a must.....plus anti histamine and eye drops. Filled up the paddling pool yesterday though, lovely.

Children are ratty and tired and sticky, Lapwing's asthma exczma and hayfever all flaring up and actually if I were her I'd have probably lost the plot by now, all that and having to endure a boiling hot classroom.
I am not a heat person...I like the long shadows of Autumn, the pale sun in watery skies, the damp cool mornings, the slight chill of an evening....... all heralding the glory of Winter! Which is even better! Just call me Elsa!

Have to say, despite being Irish I am used to high temps from having owned a house in France for 10 years where average summer temp was between 32-36°C (did even get to 41° once), but what I struggled with yesterday was the humidity, as in France I was 6,000ft above sea level in the mountains and it was rarely humid. Dry heat doesn't bother me, I can cope with that, but it's humidity that's a killer when 5 minutes after showering you are melting once again and like Sooz, I too have a broken thermostat due to being of a certain age, great in the winter, but not great during a heatwave. Saying that I found today a bit chilly as I was out and about until 10.30pm and was glad of my cardi on the way home. Think tomorrows predictions are around 30°C, perfect for me. Long may it last although I didn't need the golfing umbrella I took with me today for those forecast thunder storms. Bet if I hadn't taken it with me, I'd have been drenched. Another long journey tomorrow so plenty of time for that.

has to be said that menopause (however long I have been wishing it here) and heat do not combine well! having a dad riddled with skin cancer I am ultra careful of the sun now. I burn as soon as I look at the sun and smother myself if going out for more than 30 minutes in it. I have a 10 year old in placement who burns even with sunscreen on so she is getting lathered regularly too. I have been badly sunbunt in the past and do not wish to repeat it, and too much bright light induces migraines. but the 10 year old is loving it, water play in the garden, home made water slides, 'accidental' spillages of watering cans whle watering the veges! but hates drinking so am trying to hammer home the importance of not getting dehydrated.
