Yes... Main things: get decent food colouring or the cours are quite wishes washy Don't make individual layers too thick Make layers as even as you can when baking Have lots of tins, but knowif your oven cooks evenly
If you cut out circles in the middle layers once cooked and fill with rainbow sweets it's even more awesome!!
It's a fab cake!!!

That is an amazing cake! I take my hat off to you both Am I right in thinking that the best food colouring comes in paste form chotimonkey? Its the sort of thing my younger DD would attempt...not me though!!

Thanks, CM, I have a variety of food colourings - some really good, others I've not tried yet. I have 6 tins but will prob bake in 2 batches of 3 on the same shelf as I don't trust the evenness of my oven. The rainbow sweets thing sounds amazing - don't know if I dare try that though. What would you use?

I admire your ambition Scardeycat Seems like an awful lot of work for something that will get eaten. Please do post a pic of your end result. Mine would most definately look like Pluto's if i dared to try.

Ds3 girlfriend and I made one for his 18 the birthday last year. His face when he cut it open was fab. Took time to make as we did it in batches

It was nice but just so incredibly sweet. Very small slices recommended.
