I have been off for 5 weeks in total
better than expected, they appear to have taken on board issues I've been raising for months and partially restructured the team. I'm quite happy with what they've done, it wasn't my skill set. But they haven't thought what to do with me so am effectively job less
hey ho

Well I have work but no 'job'
There is no shortage of things to do, I'm just waiting for the penny to drop over certain things. In the meantime I will pick up odd jobs. And then there is my apprentice, who is totally mystified by the feedback I've given him today with regard to his performance. He needs a lot of input

Glad things have been sorted but Moo's right ~ couldn't you come up with your own job title, detail the tasks within that role / an action plan?? x

Ah the joys of trying to explain the civil service to the unitiated!
Unless you are very very important you don't get a job title, you are known by your grade. You are just one of an army of people at that grade
We have sets of objectives full of big words which generally bear little or no relation to what you actually do on a day to day basis
So my 'role' is in teacher induction (NQTs) but I have a very ambitious person at the level below me. Because the civil service wants everyone to 'progress' ( regardless of whether or not you want to) I have to give her challenging work. So she is basically doing what I should be doing and I'm supposed to be managing. Except she's very good so doesn't need that much managing. So I don't really have much to do in what's left of my actual role
So I have picked up corporate tasks, which is actually my background. So I have tasks, but no cohesive job
So I am waiting for someone to say , wasn't serrakunda corporate services manager in QCDA, do you think she would be good in the corporate services unit
Then I can say, what a good idea, yes please, why didn't I think of that, even though I've been saying this for the last six months
