We have been away with Woodcraft folk, 14 children and 8 adults. I am so proud of simba
on Friday, being woodcraft folk, we had to agree our cooperative values for the weekend. Simba came up with the most. On Saturday he helped cook and serve lunch. They went Weaseling (I didn't go) and I'm told he got through some of the tightest rock spaces and was generally magnificent. In the afternoon we went orienteering and he found all the control points.
this morning he helped prepare and serve breakfast, afterwards he was picked to be front point for a four mile walk across the farm, through the forest, along the Ladybower reservoir and back through the forest to the farm. He had the map and led the way. He took his responsibilities extremely seriously, despite wearing a silly wig!
the dads were so good to him, did lots of boy stuff with him and taught him lots of things about map reading, he's nattering away about contour lines like an expert.
He loves this kind of stuff and he gets so much from it, just a very proud mummy right now

I know you are still having a tough time in some (important) areas but he is going from strength to strength in so many others it's lovely to hear of his progress.
