Well the matching panel said yes last Monday (30th Sept) so on next Monday (7th Oct) we meet our son for the first time - currently being known as the boy as I cannot come up with another nickname for him. This is the LO we saw the profile of just before we went to approval panel at end of July. We finally met his SW and were officially linked on 27th August.
It has all been a bit rushed at the end here as his FC goes on holiday on 26th Oct and no-one wanted him to have 2 changes in quick succession (to respite while FC on holiday and then to us). So while on holiday at beginning of September we had phone call from our SW about could we do MP on 30th to which we (after ringing our places of work) said yes. So his SW wrote the adoption placement report in a week and sent it to ours who added her bits on Monday (she had been on holiday previous week). then came to see us to get report signed off - and we wrote there and then our bit about profile - the paperwork had to be photocopied on the following day to be sent to panel. So no 10 days for considering the report, but this did not faze us as the match felt so right and after all we are rushing for the best interests of the boy.
Panel felt really relaxed on Monday and decision was unanimous again - it was the same panel as we had in July. The chair said she felt we it was a very good match. Just waiting for the ADM to approve tomorrow morning. Then first sight Monday morning as our SW away tomorrow & Friday and his is busy, before planning meeting Monday afternoon. We have a draft plan with intention being he should be moved in with us by 20th October. Both just hoping we are as ready as we think we are - although our SW has said we are well-prepared. Probably helps that my sister & brother-in-law have adopted from same LA so we have always had realistic expectations throughout. As our SW says we are not your typical first-time adopters because of the time we have spent with my nephew.
We only officially sent application form in 10th October last year so it has been less than a year from that to us meeting our son.
