...that is the question. We have received a letter confirming matching panel but it says we do not need to attend and it won't effect the decision. What are people's views, advice, guidance on this?

Go! I can't imagine not going to such an import meeting. What if they have questions your sw might not be able to answer?

Why wouldn't you go to a meeting that's going to change your life forever. No brainier for me. At the very least you won't be waiting around for a phone call

Hi, yes, I will definitely go to MP, even if it's at the other end of the country because it's so important and yeah, I would want to be there to directly answer any questions to avoid it being deferred. x

Well I was already sold and understand completely what an important milestone, but my beloved in his practical way was questioning our need to attend.....do you think he was winding me up? ....hmmmmm.....

I've never heard of it being optional, and I've attended plenty! More and more seem to be being deferred at the moment, mostly for trivial reasons, so I'd definitely want to be there to clarify anything and everything I could.
Good luck!

How things have changed, we were never even invited - many years ago now though - given the chance I would have gone.
Hope it goes well.

Not only were we told it was happening, but we were called in to answer a few questions so yes, I think you should go

We went and although we sat outside for much of the discussion, we were called in at the end and I'm sure that it was a good thing that we were there. As the others have said, it is one of the most important meetings or occasions in your adoption journey. So yes, it will be nerve racking, but I agree you should go.

It wasn't an option when we adopted 13 and 8 years ago although we did attend approval panel the second time. I would have gone if it was offered, if only to "play the game".
