Well 2015 is the year I am regaining myself in more ways than one.
I decided to finally do something about my weight before I become a blimp. I am the same weight now as when I was fully pregnant with my BS which was 16 years ago, and that is so depressing. I want to get back to a healthy weight and feel if I don't tackle it now, I am at risk of getting bigger and bigger as I get older.
So after a visit to Moo's farm before Christmas where I met her friend who had been on the exante diet and had lost loads of weight for health reasons, I decided to give it a go after the holidays. Moo is doing it too and we are encouraging each other with regular check ins. She is doing amazingly well, but I'll leave it to her if she wants to share her success or not.
I started on 04.01.15 and lost 6lbs in the first week. Apparantly everyone loses loads in the first week and then it stabizes to 1-2lbs after that depending on how much weight you have to lose in the first place. I am hoping to lose 2-2.5 stone. Week two I lost 2lbs so I was chuffed to bits and am currently on week 3, with weigh ins on Sundays.
There are different types of plans on this diet and I am doing the VLCD (very low calorie diet) which is 600 calories a day. I know it sounds severe, but the meals contain all the vitamins you need to stay healthy and I only intend staying on it until I reach my goal weight, then I will move onto the maintainence diet to keep the weight off. There is also a 5:2 version which I might do once I've achieved my target and the interesting thing is I rarely feel hungry on this diet as the meals do contain a lot of fibre which keeps you feeling full as long as you drink lots of liquid throughout the day.
I like the way there are many different choices of diet depending on how quickly or slowly you want to lose the weight and the food packs are surprisingly tasty. They look like adult baby food, or astronaut food, but taste much nicer than they look and some of them are really yummy. Even the not so tasty ones are palatable, but obviously you try one or two first to see which ones you like and then order more of them when you find the ones you prefer. There are a good variety of foods from shakes to bars to meals to desserts etc so there is great variety as I was concerned about getting bored, but have to say so far I am enjoying being on the diet and actually look forward to making my meals.
Once you sign up to their news letter they send you deals most days with BOGOF and they have a deal of 100 meals for £85 which works out at 85p per meal!!! You can't feed yourself on normal food for that price, so I'm even saving money on this diet and intend buying myself some new clothes on the money I'm saving on food. It really is an easy diet to do for anyone thinking of doing it and as I said the food is really tasty. You can even have maple syrup pancakes and their sausages and breakfast eggs are to die for. Think I would still eat them even if I wasn't on the diet, so it's no hardship to stay on track. As long as you drink lots, you don't feel hungry between meals and with the bars, it is really easy stick to as you can always keep a meal in your handbag when out and about so you don't get tempted to cheat if you get hungry when shopping or whatever.
I know I am going on about it, but I really didn't think I would ever be promoting a diet (with this one being the first one I have ever tried), but I felt I should post about it if anyone was thinking about doing one as I am finding it so easy to stick to. Already my DD is noticing that my face looks thinner and this morning I noticed I'm beginning to have a waist!
Let's hope my progress continues and I can regain my old shape.
