9 months ago to the day, a social worker and family finder sat on my sofa telling us all about the little boy who would become our son. We were already so keen on him from the CPR and felt we could meet his needs. We were over the moon when they said yes to us on that first meeting. We'd already had a stressful ride with another link.
2 months after that - 7 months ago we met Shrimp for the first time and then bought him home a week later. It has been an exciting, daunting, stressful, happy, emotional, difficult, special time for all of us. Our 5 year old BD has had her world turn upside down and inside out and coped amazingly, she is as awesome a big sister as we thought she would be. We've made sure to seperate out special time for her, especially after she has spent time playing in her bedroom to block out the extreme tantrums of a traumatised 22 month old brother.
Today was the celebration hearing. It was just the best morning, full of love and joy. After a bad bad bad day yesterday our Son was his happiest joyful self, climbing on the bench and banging it loudly. We went for an afternoon tea after - at 10.30am! Today is a day of memories, a day we will never forget.
How very odd though, saying goodbye to our social workers at the end!
