Wednesday get an email from the care home. Due to Mackerel's behaviour, he's been excluded on Thursday.
Thursday get a letter from the LA. They've decided NOT to amend Mackerel's statement to include all of the one to one that the school feel is appropriate, despite the Ed Psych report that said that he was unlikely to get any GCSEs at all as he clearly has a significant global learning difficulty. Also, despite the meeting that we had at the end of last term to review his statement when the lady from the education office led us all to believe that it was a formality given the Ed Psych report and the frequent behavioural issues.
School have recruited extra staff on the understanding that the funding would be following and they're now in the mire financially because of it.
Rang head teacher who's first words were, "I don't know who's more incandescent about this: you or me".
They are going to continue with the one to one teaching, though, and I love their commitment. But I worry that maybe it would be best if they said that they couldn't accommodate him and that would then force the LA to provide something that COULD meet his needs.

Yes, we can. Head didn't mention it when we spoke to her. May ring her again and ask whether it's worth it.

Surely his exclusion will help your case - ie "he needs more help", not less. Looks like an appeal is definately needed Hope HT will back you up. Hugs

Are you speaking to Parent Partnership? They're usually good with appeals. Sorry that you're having this to deal with - it seems so unfair. Good on school fo putting the support in place anyway - hope that continues.

What a crazy decision. You should definitely appeal. As JMK says the exclusion supports his need for more 1-1 help. great that the school are trying really hard to support him.
