It's a book about pre/Intros and beyond, for Adopters, written from a FC perspective. Some of it based on posts that I made on the AUK site, some from a course I devised for my LA about moving children on, some from my own experience and a few snippets that I have heard from others

Oh wow Imp that's fab and sooooo well needed.
You're already half way there with all you've already written, so it shouldn't take you too long to pull it all together.
Make sure you have the copyright and not the LA - You need to be getting payment for this not them (or at least a fair chunk of it) as I'm sure it will be so popular it will probably get rolled out for all La's to use, so make sure you make some money out of this - Get yourself an agent!!

nmt----no way, can't stand those books jmk---The 'head honcho' for training has already acknowledged that the course that I devised and run is my 'property' and is fully supportive of the book. I am not facilitating courses after this next academic year, my choice, so then all the work will be totally mine Obviously I won't be putting in any negatives that can be personally identified---in deed, all my examples will be general, a culmination of several children/adopters situations Will let you al know when it is finished, then will have to see how I get on with having it published

The Jessica Kingsley website has quite a detailed section on submitting an idea for a book..who its aimed at, etc.
There's also BAAF of course, would they consider it?

Also, you can look up online lots of books with a similar sort of premise (ie. advice for adoptive parents etc), and write down the publisher (and agent if applicable) for them. That gives you a good starting point of publishers that print these kind of books. To publish non-fiction, you need to write a proposal as well, that's what you submit to the publishing house first to convince them of the need for your book. Sometimes you submit the proposal before fully writing the book (although you need a clear plan for it at very least), but you can write the book and then do the proposal after, proves you have the ability to write if you're a first time author. You can find quite a lot of information online about proposal writing I think it's a fabulous idea by the way, best of luck PS. here's BAAF's page for instance - www.baaf.org.uk/bookshop/proposals and if you download their proposal form as well, that should be helpful And Jessica Kingsley's page with form on it www.jkp.com/jkp/forauthors.php

very true jmk, though with he increased knowledge of the danger that contact with Chicken Pox can be to an increasing number of people, the children are very much confined to the house---with limited visitors. Still, my GULO is either sleeping or quietly happy, and tiny is banned from the Contact Centre, and we are awaiting his spots. Just about to get the laptop set up and do a little more as GULO is asleep ----and I am confined to the house to watch the Commonwealth Games !!!!!!!
