hi flowerpot,
not sure how old your children are, but mine were older adoptees, and had/have serious food issues, one of the first things we did was to go out for meal, it then became a regular thing, they love going out for food, they love the interaction with staff...but the ordering of food was/is an issue still, but I take along a pen and pad and have scanned the menu before we get to said restaurant and we have never had a bad restaurant exp...so glad that you too have had a good time, keep it up it does give you a bit of respite.

That sounds fab - sincerely hope we can do Indian meals when LO comes - he has food issues too and it sounds like a great way to introduce new flavours and textures... and at the very least I can get my fix

Great when you reach another family milestone together.
I was lucky my two have always been extremely good and adventurous eaters so we stared taking them to restaurants from when they were very young. Others are always amazed at how they now scan the menus and even ask the waiters can I have more spice on that please?
Their favourite place to eat is Jimmy Spices where it is like a buffet type place with foods from all around the world and you can go up and choose and help yourself to whatever you want and as many times as you like for a set price. They loooove the independence and the variety of different foods they can choose from, not to mention the same choice for desserts. Heaven for adventurous eaters with not a chicken nugget or chip in sight.

Lovely Flowerpower. We have almost always had good experiences in restaurants and yet every time I am tenterhooks as EJ goes into meltdown in almost every other situation (in public places). Holidays- the only positive experience is usually in a restaurant and I was wondering why after reading your post. But, reading AShowers and jmk's replies I think I know why - food - When the boys were here for the 1st few years I would have described them as having food issues - over the following 8 yrs or so, I have come to realise that food is an issue but not a negative one - the problem/issue with both my boys (both overweight teens) has always been not being able to stop - EJ is and always has been adventurous and it is interesting that he in particular, loves unusual food/highly spiced etc. We have a brilliant photo of a 5yr old EJ in a seafood restaurant in France being served his Whole large crab and another with him, the waiter and chef with his empty plate (bar the claws and empty shell)!! We go to an exceptional Nepalese restaurant for special extended family occasions and the staff love EJ - as he always clears his (and everyone else's) plate. Yesterday it was our 28th wedding anniversary. We would normally go to the nepalese resturant but due to other things were unable to go this year - but instead I cooked our fav dishes - EJ said it was ok but not as good as the Katmandu !!!!

Well done sounds lovely... Ours are too little to take out for dinner, getting to tired, but they are great at brunch it's just their time of day to enjoy being somewhere new...
They also like getting involved so they have liked Okinomiyake and showy Japanese hot plate cooking Rolling up duck and cucumber at Chinese and picking things from buffet Dipping naan and bhajis in Dahl Rolling up fajitas Love mezeand houmous and tzatziki And love spreading jam and cream on a scone for cream tea
They 3,2,1 and besides colouring and stickers does anyone have any ideas for keeping them entertained at the table?
