We no longer have a LO, she has had her 1st hair cut----with the agreement of her SW, and suddenly she is a little girl!!
Brilliant, children only hairdressers, complete with 1st hair cut certificate, and I have also bought a '1st curl' silver box inscribed with name and date.
----just as long as we don't have her long enough to do the 'coming out of nappies' bit!!!!!

remember taking the bbs for her first hair cut. milestone moments, and I had her long enough for the first big girl pants too imp, not to suggest you'll have your LO so long mind! think squishy munchkin may be getting a short back and sides before too long too, dad was constantly brushing his hair behind his ears during intros so suspect it wont be there for long!!

Really like to leave that First Haircut for the new Mummy and Daddy, there are so many 1sts that they miss out on, but with this LO and delays couldn't wait any longer. Just sooooo grown up with a fringe, and hair looks thicker too

How old is LO Imp? My hairdressers are really fussy about cutting little ones' hair and have said my latest is too young (at 18 months) but I'm fed up of washing her dinner out of her fringe! And she's fed up pushing it back out of her eyes. Of course, if she'd wear one of the several hundred clips I've bought her there would be no problem...

21 months nmt, and had it done at a Children only salon, they are really good. Bobbles and clips just wouldn't stay in, it was far too much fun pulling them out. I did manage to keep the 'pineapple' style using a bobble to keep the long front hair out of her face---until she discovered how to pull it out. Now she loves her new look

bbs was about 18 months I think and again hair too fine to keep clips in (also quite enjoyed pulling them out and chewing them!). first cut was mostly fringe and a little tidy up to make a bob-ish shape. but not sure age is the deciding factor really, my eldest son had his first hair cut when he was 6 months old becoz he simply had so much hair and a pink clip really wouldn't have suited! i'm a bit like you imp in that I like new parents to do the first hair cut, I wouldn't be cutting squishy's hair even now becoz its cute, just think parents will! and to be fair the bbs was still in legal proceedings at 18 months and I gave the hair to birth mum for her own memory book. I've kept the firs their cut hair from all my own babies!

How LOs can change in less than 3 months.
2nd visit to the hairdressers today (Chicken Pox meant I had to do the interim fringe trim) and ------
She SCREAMED and SCREAMED, tried to climb out of the 'car' chair, fought and went bright red in the face.
The hairdresser was brilliant, we even have a shorter and straight fringe, and renewed layers so that the hair looks thicker---all in 10 minutes.
As soon as we were out of the door the little minx was her usual happy, cheeky self!!

bless! my eldest son used to do this, he would wet himself he was so angry and upset. he never enjoyed his hair being cut and at 18, once he was about to do his A levels decided the school (private) would no longer be able to tell him to get it cut and didn't cut it again for about 6 years! he does now have trims once a year but it still reaches his waist! his dislike of hair cutting extends to shaving so he also has a beard!
