After all we have been through we have got our celebration hearing first thing tomorrow, hurrah. So far so good. Turns out hubby took (why? ) our camera to his office and left it there! He has refused to upgrade his mobile for the past 10 years or so and mine has decided it will only take pictures with a minimum 10 second delay.

You can still get disposable cameras if you've got a Boots nearby. Is there no one else coming who could bring a camera?

No, unfortunately our vast network of local family and friends decided to be wholly uninterested in us/LO ever since placement, so basically no-one is coming. :-(

Oh no, how sad. So sorry to hear that Flutterby, and sorry to hear about the camera. What about SW , could they bring a camera and take some pics for you? Tell her/him you want it for life story!!

Very good idea, Sockthing. I will ask. Feeling much better after a large glass of red with my dinner. Hubby bathing LO - I think he could tell I was not too pleased.
The thing with so-called support network is really grating me sometimes. I have no family in this country and have to rely on hubbies and friends made over the years. But it seems adoption has really shown who really is a friend. I am doing my best to make new contacts and it all takes time.

Yes, it is hard when people we thought we could rely on don't support us. I haven't worked out why this should be. I think we should have EXTRA support. It is v hurtful when people celebrate birth childern, but can't celebrate an adoption.
I would love to know what a psychologist would make of this phenomena. It seems to affect lots of us.
I am sure we fellow adopters on this site wish you a lovely celebration day. You are a special family together & no one else has the right to spoil it for you. x

Thanks everyone! We are determined to have a lovely day tomorrow with or without great pics, I am sure we will manage to get hold of a camera somehow (work in progress!). Working very hard at establishing a new circle of friends and I am sure I will get there sooner or later. Circumstances did not help in that my 3 closest friends all moved abroad within the past 18 months, so they left a gaping hole. Still in touch obviously, but it is just not the same as popping over for a chat. You are absolutely right nzhb, we all need a lot of support, but also company. You cannot spend 24/7 with a traumatised littly and hardly see a soul. I have been seen to go shopping much more often just to get out and say hello to the ladies at the tills. Thankfully, Butterfly does not mind going to the shops. She seems to think fruit are a special treat, so we treat ourselves. Moo, did judge show up with wig and all? That would be fun, maybe I could wear it, my hair is not at its best.

Flutterby - we all had to try on "the wig". The judge we had was great.

Is Butterfly big enough to bang the gavel? Our judge was a real sport, female, in full regalia, kids up either side, hamming it up.

Thanks, everyone, for all your good wishes, ideas, hugs etc. We had a really lovely day. Court was such a short affair, no wigs, just a friendly judge who congratulated us and was clearly happy this affair had been resolved satisfactorily. He apologized for the long delays, we had three photos taken - off we went for a well-deserved coffee and cake with our fab social worker. Don't know why I was fretting so much yesterday?
Very happy mummy today!

Actually, Moo, I am very sad to see my social worker go. I may be in a very small minority, but she has been nothing but amazing throughout the whole process and her help and support have been invaluable. I view her as a friend and am hoping we will be able to stay in touch.
