Middly is now officially statemented and has a place in an oversubscribed asd unit for September!
A slow transition starts after half term - starting with an hour or so one day a week in the unit with his LSA from his current school, gradually increasing his time.
So far, so good.
But I'm the transport and escort - because of risk assessments, h&s etc one teacher/one pupil in a car isn't allowed so I have to drop Littly off in one direction then drive half an hour in the opposite direction, take middly and LSA to new unit, hang around, then drive them back.
Haven't quite worked out how I'll manage on the days when I have to be in two places at 9am!! And of course the transition day is one of the days that dh is away.
But other than the current unit teacher (very negative but retiring) we're hopeful and he's coming round to the idea.

Surely that level of multi tasking is what adopters do best Dona! You must have learned how to be in two places at once by now haha.
Seriously though, great news! Hope it works out for everyone xx

Is the teacher allowed to take middly in a taxi? Could that be a solution to the 'two places at the same time' problem?
Or would littly's school be receptive to an early drop off - help in the office type of thing?

The issue seems to be the one on one ratio and because he doesn't officially start until September we're kind of doing it - for all the right reasons - by the back door so no Lea transport until his official starting date. Think I may look into breakfast club for Littly. It's only one day a week and initially at least I won't have to be there for 9 so hopefully it'll only be for about 3 or 4 weeks. May ado suggest that dh might wany to reconsider his away day!

I was thinking private taxi, but breakfast club sounds better.

Great to hear he has his place, Donatella, hope you can work out the logistics.
Let us know how he gets on.
