How are all your schools using the pupil premium? DD's HT is open to suggestions. She already has 100% 1-1 and the school are, on the whole, supportive and inclusive She has trouble with friendships and social situations but am not sure what input we could have. We are semi rural and do not have access to any good services

I've asked for an after school club for my girls and their peers. incl transport for those who would be unable to attend if they couldn't get the transport bus (we are at special school). They are working on making this happen.

Hi aibee My daughter is in Reception. I asked the Head how he was going to use the pupil premium, and he said that generally they use to support emotional and social needs of more vulnerable children in the school, but that he was open to ideas from me for AD. AD's teacher has noticed some social issues (quite subtle - AD can often present as quite confident, but is actually quite avoidant, and can be controlling). They suggested Theraplay sessions with me and her, provided by a trained TA in the school, aiming to develop AD's confidence and self-esteem and help her peer relationships.

At least you get it!
Pink is 4 (5 in the summer) and I was told she wouldn't be entitled to it... She is in reception..
Any tips how she can?

Really swimchic? That's odd as my AD is also in Reception and it means the school gets an additional £1900 for her. We're in England - does geography play a part?
I'm not sure she'd have had anything specialised until I specifically asked about the pupil premium (I'd be fine with it supporting, for example, small nurture groups that AD might be part of). They then obviously had a bit more of a chat internally and suggested trying Theraplay. The SENCO was very clear that they would need to track how the amount was being spent and was supporting AD, whether in either individual sessions, small group or whole class activity.
Worth asking your school why my AD (who was 5 in April) attracts in the extra funding, and yours doesn't?

We're in England too Sivier..Just carp school, that can't deal with anything out of the norm..
The only thing I can think of is when they did the census in January as she is 4. I have spoken to head of virtual schools from the LA she came from and so did the school. But it was a No!
We aren't aware of any issues yet, however one of her half siblings is dyslexic, so I have voiced my concerns about it.....

Swimchic - my nephew was 4 at census time and he gets PP+ as does a friends son who is still 4 now. May just be school being carp and not wanting the hassle for some reason.

Sorry to read this swimchic.... Suggest you write a letter to the chair of the board of governors asking why they are failing your dd?!
Also write to county coz you then can find out how to write a letter to ofsted..... Now that really will get them to sit up & notice!?!
Good Luck.....

Swimchic, did they say that before Jan? Maybe they mean because she wasn't included in the census it can't be claimed? Have you sent them the DFE link re PP?

Yep correct Moo. PP is FSM mainly and PP+ is LAC & PLAC (previously LAC). Or as the new terminology is CLA & PCLA.....

Swimchic when was Pink registered at the school? The cut off was something like 16th jan or some such - if she wasn't at school then, they will have to apply in January of next year, you can only do it once a year.
