Squirrel seems to be developing a stammer, she doesn't get stick on letters but whole phrases eg
I went to... I went to.. I went to... I went to.... I went to the shop and bought daddy a present yesterday
She is a bright v articulate little button who is always talking and loves words, stories and books
Nothing obvious has happened and she doesn't seem upset, the holiday has had them doing different stuff, but within what they know and I have kept to their routine mostly
I wonder if it's partly that she has so much to say that her brain is running faster than her mouth can keep up with and also with howler becoming more and more verbally demanding of my time it's a reaction to this
Has anyone had any experience of this? And how long should I leave it before looking at salt
Thanks

Kipper does this too. As you say, it's not a difficulty with getting a word out, more that he gets stuck repeating the same word over and over while his brain runs on at a million miles! he also is very talkative and bright.
Nursery don't seem concerned at this stage, think it's an age and stage thing, but to keep an eye on it.
Will be interested in your replies!
P.s he started doing it at about the same age as Squirrel, She's 3 , yes?

Snap.... skweek does it too.... Also started at three....
Every time he is having a growth spurt it seems much more noticeable again ( bonkers ).... Started up again at the start of the holidays.... Bet it stops again for while before the next spurt!?!? I have always just talked him thro it... Didn't think it was something to worry about.... Hope I am right....

Hi choti
My daughter did this a lot at around age 3. She's just turned 5 and I can't recall her doing it for several months now. so with her it seems like it was probably a stage?
Agree with PT, Squirrel sounds lovely!

All of my children did that and a lot of my friends' too. They seem to think faster than they can talk and then get stuck because they are so excited about what they want to say. It is different from proper stammering, where they struggle to get the sounds out properly.
I would not worry about it, the less said and the more patience you have when listening the sooner it should wear off, it only tends to become a problem if the children get vibes from adults that what they are doing is a problem.

Thanks everyone... Yep squirrel is 3 and lovely (but I would think that) and v interestingly in the middle of a crazy growth spurt... She has always been v little and all of a sudden is in line with most of her peers... It v much feels like others have said that she us just overflowing with ideas questions and observations... I was wondering for those of you with more than one if making more solo time for their lo helped as I wonder for squirrel if she now has less airtime As howler is just hitting the 'I need to narrate everything I see/hear/do/want/feel' stage of being two Thanks for this it feels like it literally appeared overnight!
