Thank you all! Had consent forms to sign today so we can be reapproved in February ? And also an invite to an exchange day in January. This time it's a national one not just our consortium. X x x Ladybug x x X

Newsflash!!
We we have a selection visit for the baby boy in mid January!! Two days before the final hearing for PO so hoping it is third time lucky!! Been having to sign consent forms etc... for our re approval at the beginning of February SW did say they can do approval and matching at the same panel however I think matching at the same panel is rather optimistic but we shall see!!

ladybug --- it IS possible to get things done quickly in terms of reapproval. I did approval panel one week, and then within two weeks was at matching panel. They expedited all the paperwork. Very very very best wishes that this will go smoothly and quickly.

Oh and with the reapproval, We had reapproval and matching panels back to back on the same day for howler, and then again for george
So it can be done quickly, esp if it's the same borough placing and approving
After christmas I'll have a think about stuff I would have found helpful to know xxx

things we covered for selection visit for baby/ toddler, in no particular order, just as they come to mind...
we were calmly enthusiastic about the child and focused all our comments on their needs not ours knowledge of child's culture and how to access it in our area knowledge of potential needs and how to support, including support groups, special needs groups at childrens centres, sensory play areas etc ideas on how to approach birth history with parents relevant epereince with age group people in your support group who have children of a similar age that you could get advice from making it clear you know that a very lo means a lot more uncertainty about development as baby milestones are pretty low and don't indicate much, esp behavioural stuff. what we knew we needed to do to the house to child proof it... small things like where we would stair gate, adding a high up catch lock to the kitchen, so when I was cooking I could leave something cooking in the oven, come out and lock the door. things to be moved from lower shelves, anticipating sharp table corners, moving precious things up hhigh knowledge of local baby and toddler groups that might be of interest, provide yiu with peers with children of a similar age esp baby groups that are bonding, things like baby sensory/ tatty bumpkin/ hart beeps are franchises that have a lot of face to face contact, sensory exploration/ contact and touch with you and your child. sqwimming sessions at local pools are good as skin to skin is really good too, oonce baby us settled obv. how family has responded to other los coming into the family and how you expect they will react, who will be your go to people for different things to help you meet this los needs. show that your area is great for los with parks etc knowledge of equipment needed... if they still need sterilisers ideas about feeding
remember that it is an information swap on both sides, we got a lot of info about squirrel that we didn't know at the link meeting and we had to decide too (easy decision, for us, she was perfect!) so you might need to go away and regroup afterwards...
so excited for you!

Thank you so much Choti that is really helpful. Even though this will be our third selection visit LO is younger so obviously we need to focus on different areas! Just retrieved CPR to re-read and come up with questions. We already have info on toddler groups etc in the area and I am pretty sure we have a Tatty Bumpkin locally too.

Had a call today from a post adoption SW that had arranged to come and visit us at the beginning of Jan re loss and grief and buddying us up with other adopters. She actually called to cancel the meeting as she has spoken to our SW who is extremely confident that the PO will be granted for LO and that she is pushing for re-approval and matching at the same panel!! Still won't quite believe it until we have a yes from the selection visit then PO granted followed by a yes from panel and bringing LO home!
Only time will tell, eh?

Your PAS sound on the ball, linking you up with other adopters.
Have you added your whereabouts on our "Meet an adopter in your area" thread. Could be a member living near you?

Our SW called this morning to make sure that we are ready for tomorrow and to talk about some of things CSW is likely to ask just to prepare us, she said this SW will ask lots of questions unlike the previous 2 selection visits we have had!!!
She also confirmed that we are booked for Feb MP so if all goes according to plan reapproval and matching will be the same day and possibly by the end of February LO will be home!! Still 2 hurdles to get over before this happens and we have been here before.

I know Knight. See what LAs can do when they have to. Suddenly feeling quite scared even though we have been this far twice before but we've not had a MP date! 5 weeks time we could be starting intros. Suddenly feels like 0-60 in a nano second.

OMG!! Mad crazy thing mode, I've been cleaning and vacuuming for the last hour!! Feel I should bake cakes but they never get eaten much to DH's delight because then he can eat them. Today shop bought biscuits are fine!
Worried about the mess the garden is in, we still have the old fence panels and remnants of the old shed which DH said he was going to burn in an incinerator weeks ago and still hasn't!!! Plus the 'grass' such as it is looks more like a mud patch! Work in progress though.
Anyway feet up and a cuppa for a few mins and then back to the mad crazy cleaning tidying lady for an hour!
Off now ladies and gents and see you on the other side!
