Have any of you heard of Adoption link UK, it's a site where you can put your profile so FF SW can see it and I believe you can see children's profiles. It says it is run by adopters A friend from our prep training said she had signed up and gave me the link. I'm just not sure about as never heard of it.

Never heard of it Ladybug.
I'd be very wary of putting my details out there for all to see if it were me.
Can you not phone Auk to check it out with them first?

Exactly what I was thinking JMK. From the look of it the site wants you to set up a profile before you get on to anything else. Thinking I'm leaving that one alone until at least I can verify if it is genuine. We're seeing our SW on Tuesday so will ask her as well. X x

No I haven't put anything on there at all Moo, was far too afraid to as have no idea who they are.
I have emailed AUK to see if they know of them!

I clicked on the link and they have gone live Ladybug.
It all looks very professional and above board, but I am still suspicious.
I mean if it was legit why would Auk not endorse it and even promote it?
Also if there is no fee for using it, how can the "adopters" make any money, why would they do it all for nothing, it makes me a bit suspicious to be honest.
I wouldn't advise anyone including your friend to post their details on there until they know more/have it validated as being a legitimate site.
Proceed with caution.

I had an email from AUK saying that the website is an independent concern and has no connection with them. AUK did work with Andy Leary-May of Adoption Link last year to tender for running the National Adoption Register but have no involvement with them!

It isn't free, if adopters want to search they have to pay a fee of £19. LAs will be charged a fee between £100 -£400 per month to advertise their children

You can use your free account to receive enquiries or upgrade for a one off fee of £19 to make your own enquiries.

The people running it came from New Family Social (LGBT adoption charity) and are all adoptive parents as far as I know. Been hearing about it on twitter for a while and it does seem to be legitimate. Certainly got all the right stuff about data protection and the like on the site - and Andy leary-May is fairly well known from NFS.

I spoke with Andy Leary-May about this the other day: I too was dubious but it is legit. I spoke with my SW so that she could confirm I was approved, etc. She hadn't heard of them and understandably was as dubious as I was but I passed on that Andy knew of one of her seniors, who I've met a few times (senior confirmed). He also said that he had received a flyer or whatever from Andy. Don't know whether my LA will profile their children: it's only been up and running 2/3 weeks and there's almost 100 child(ren)'s profiles (so I'm guessing it is cheaper than BMP/CWW). Our consortium has a website too but it's in its early stages so whilst there are profiles on, not very many at all really: I would have thought the Consortium with so many children to place between them all would individually work hard to get as many of their children on as possible on their consortium website. I am waiting....
Hope this helps to reassure future prospectives.

Thanks Knight. I did join it and have made an enquiry. AUK confirmed it was genuine and a couple of profiles of children from our agency are on there. It's a £19 one off fee for you to be able to make enquiries but you can add your profile so SWs can see you and enquire with possible matches.

Hi all. I registered on here ages ago but then forgot about it with various things going on. My partner and I have just (this week!) had the adoption order for our second son, who joined us in September. I'm posting here now because I came across this thread, and I'm one of the people who set-up Adoption Link. If anyone is interested in how it came about / why we did it, it's actually all on the website here: www.adoptionlink.co.uk/pages/aboutHappy to help if anyone has any questions about it :-)

Hi 2D2B,
Since starting this thread DH & I have registered with Adoption Link and currently have a match for 2 sib girls being considered. We've had a selection visit and 10 days later, Friday 23rd, we had an invite to a child appreciation day but no dates as yet!
