Hello everyone. We got through matching panel for Mouse yesterday, so as soon as we get the official letter from the senior decision maker we will be her prospective adopters rather than foster parents. It's been a long and complicated process - the a Fostering to Adopt process really isn't for the faint hearted. Sending her off to Contact has been horrible, and the risks of a kinship placement were considerable at one point. But all that has receded now and we can really start to relax into just being a family (well, as much as we can around Monkey Boy - relax really isn't a word we associate with him!)
I was quite nervous about panel, as I had to go on my own - DH had to stay at home with 2 sick kids - but they were very positive and said what a calm and supportive home we were providing Monkey Boy and how clearly attached Mouse was to us already. Really affirming to have such positive things said.
I feel we can breathe out slowly now......and fill in the forms to adopt Mouse and submit them to the Court pronto pronto.
Then I have a cheeky image in my mind for a little notice above our letter box, "No Social Workers" (a bit like a "No Junk Mail" notice). Of course that will sound very unkind but we have been so crawled over by social workers for such a very very long time.......

Fantastic news! Well done all of you! I can well imagine you must be feeling emotional. You really deserve this, it must take very special people to give that love and commit to attaching when there are such risks.
Are you celebrating or waiting for AO?

DH and I had some bubbly with supper the other night but we'll have a full-on celebration and explain it all to Monkey Boy when the AO comes through.
Rather than grinning it's been a feeling of deep relief. It has been quite a tough process, as the assessment of the family member proceeded quite a long way, and was looking positive (and then wasn't!).
