Hi Its not often that I reflect on the brilliance of becoming a Dad, as most of the time I am being a cook, pack horse, philosopher, nurse, comedian, AV expert, horse.
However Today, I took Our Kid to watch our local team play football. We walked up to the ground, went through the turnstiles and spent an afternoon with the other 250 souls in the Sun. (ok it's not Man Utd, at least the queues for the hot dogs were short)
He loved it, briefly, and naturally got bored and sat on the step, playing angry birds. Then he ran off to play with some other kids.
Afterwards we strolled home, and picked up a cuddly rabbit that we had left on a wall on the way down and hadn't been reclaimed, so it now joins the zoo on his bed
When we got home, he had his bath and bedtime story and fell asleep like a log, as he does every night. And then I thought, that really was for me. When I pictured being a Dad, I pictured doing just that today. Pretty special.
I should point out that he correctly noted (as I put him on my shoulders)
"Ah Dad, this is the coat you were wearing when I pooed myself and you had to carry me home"

Sweet Trust them to shatter the moment! you can start planning taking him for his first pint now Before Simba I travelled a lot in Africa and always dreamed of taking my child on a trip. Last April I took Simba to Gambia, it was pretty amazing

Awh Goat your post was lovely. Have a lump in my throat as I type. You're building memories with your Kid and that's what it's all about. In years to come you can embarrass him when he's a teenager telling that story to his mates ..... remember the time you ........ Parents revenge is sweet.

Like it! And the coat thing - put another way: I remember when I needed someone to carry me home, and it was YOU that took care of me, Dad!
