Well incase you don't all know we have MP this Friday. Sorry I feel like I've told the world and am starting to brag, but we have waited so long to become a mummy n daddy! Please don't think I'm bragging too much!
Anyway all our family and friends are so excited! My darling mum and friend organised me a surprise toddler shower last weekend which was great and both me and the boys got spoilt! My DH wanted to know where his pressies were haha!
A couple of family members asked if we were saving the boys wrapped up gifts for when they arrived!
My instinct was to say no! I don't want them over whelming with gifts when they arrive and thought it better to put clothes in wardrobe and money box etc out on unit, they may as we all understand have a money box etc that they prefer!
So I suppose I'm asking all of your mummy daddy opinions!
Daisy ;-) xx

Hey Daisy No, not bragging - we all hope to get there one day and it's lovely to hear about other people's journeys - will be rooting for you I don't yet have a mummy / daddy opinion but I would think that presents which could replace stuff they already have could be hard as you say - and overwhelming too perhaps... I wonder about one small present each - I need to read up on your story as I am not sure of their ages - but if they are school / nursery age maybe something personal like a pencil case with their name on / keyring with your photos / photos of each other... or a new book each - for bedtime I need to give this one some thought myself but my instinct would be that a new bedroom with lots of new stuff in will be more than overwhelming enough! Good luck - looks like Friday is pivotal for both of us Ax

Brag away Daisy, you've earnt the right!!!
I would considfer over-whelming them with presents and has already been suggested just put them in the room and leave it at that. In insecure scared minds of children who have been through enough already, presents from people they don't know yet can be puzzling, they are just not used to it. A nice new bedroom with plenty of new and wonderful things will be daunting enough.
Just my thoughts,

I would say lots of presents could be overwhelming! My LO was pretty overwhelmed with just a new environment let alone much more. I would suggest keeping things low key in the early days.
Best wishes for MP x

Thanks all just what I thought!
I have told family that me and DH will make the decision on what to do with stuff off everyone for the boys with the boys best interests at heart! Over whelming is not going to help them settle and for that reason we are going to keep it to the bedroom and the few new bits in there!
It's going to be over whelming for us so god knows what will be going on in their little minds
The boys are 2 and 3 but not far off being 3 and 4!

Thanks for the advice, gratefully received,
So nervous now for tomorrow, to calm the nerves I just had to go out and buy some new skinny jeans a new top and some new shoes (could be the last pair in a while) haha

The things I bought were just left in the house, in her room or the playroom for her to find as she wished. I also asked everyone else to leave off with gifts initially (the only exception was family members with children, some of the children eg cousins were really excited about buying Starlet a gift so I went along with that). As everyone was keen to welcome her more officially, we had a naming day three months in, which was amazing. By then I knew Starlet was socially very confident and able to cope with being the centre of attention... She had he time of her life!

Awe fab, thanks for comments, any gifts we have already been given are just out in room for them to find as they go, only a couple of bits and its mainly clothes.
We have told everyone else to hold off buying pressies so as not to overwhelm them!
