Hi flutterby: really pleased to hear that SWs are fully behind you: that has to be reassuring but also very positive otherwise you'd feel you were fighting everyone. Let's just hope a conclusion is arrived at quickly to allow you all to relax and after a while, put this sorry mess behind you. It's just wrong on every level, hugs to you all x

Well, after all the upset and stress of the last few months, we have finally had our adoption order granted! I cannot say how relieved, elated, over the moon, I am. I have not been so emotional since my older daughter was born. So good to know that little butterfly will now be with us forever and no-one can take her away from us. I was cradling her last night, just looking into her eyes, like you would with a newborn. I was and still am so in awe that this little girl is my very own daughter.
We have had ups and downs since placement, some very difficult times, but I love her and we are officially a family now.
Thanks All, for the huge support you have been giving me over the last few months. xx

I reckon a lot of this approach by authorities is because of historic adoption situation where single mums lost their kids because of "shame" at not being married in the past There are a lot of adults around now who feel they were removed from bm at that time innappropriatly and are very vocal about their situation, especially those who don't have a good relationship with their adoptive parents.. Then bf who lost their kids with good reason act all innocent and join in the rammy. People hear this kind of stuff and assume that modern day adoption is also unfair to birth parents, when we know the reality is exactly opposite, and authorities lean over backwards to help bf. I too agree the law needs changes, or at least the procedures. We were told we would have a long legal wait for ds2 but then bf said to judge that while they weren't going to give permission for adoption they were not going to appeal either! Next thing we knew, the courts had removed their parental rights and granted the la authority rights to place the child for adoption! But even then there was the risk they might turn up at court to object on the day. crazy! I would like to see the old system enhanced. Placement order comes first, but with everything fought out at this stage. Once it is settled that the child is not going back to birth family THEN the child is placed for adoption with no further right to appeal. It has to stop somewhere.. The only exception being those who choose to foster while the wrangling goes on, but with a very definite time limit on this. Dream on Pingu......
