Oh it's been so quiet today. Almost restful. Monkey Boy was up much of the night with a vomiting bug. As a result, today there was no arguing back, no constant chatter, no trying to control and boss..... We sat and did a couple of jigsaws, watched some cartoons, read some stories, he snuggled against me, said please and thank you, had a nap..... He was lovely company. So sweet and endearing.
Makes me me feel bad to say, but if this is the effect of being ill, I quite like it. Obviously nothing serious mind, but a little minor ailment here and there!
No, but seriously, it's had me looking at the Connors test again.....

Know exactly what you mean.... It really is quite worring..... The change is immense isn't it......
It is always a shock after the lull when the 'old' boy returns.... Enjoy the peace while you can....

Over Xmas all of ours were Ill... But I felt a bit cheated that dds were I'll enough to be fed up and whiny but not I'll enough to want to lie down all day and snuggle... Not much, but just a tiny bit sucked would have been perfect

Glad to see I'm not the only one who's enjoyed the change of pace. I was going to sign myself up for the worst parent ever bench!

Know what you mean Daffin, when AD is poorly I get lots of cuddles, she sits quietly holding hands, or is on my lap, she has no energy to boss me about. I don't like her being unwell - of course - but there is recuperation/recovery time for both of us when she is....!

Monkey Boy was feeling much better today. Not 100% and still off his food but.... Normal service has been resumed!

Presume mention of Connors means you are thinking he might have ADHD? If so, then my experience might reinforce that. Older ds has it and I remember when she was younger, ie before she took the meds, I used to think being ill made her "normal" - well, as you describe basically. Now when she is ill I never even think of giving her the meds - for the same reason, except it seems like normal as usually she would have it. So now her ill self isn't so noticeable a change as it used to be, iyswim.

That's really interesting Milly. Yes. I have been thinking for some time that he might have ADHD. This bout of sickness really reinforced that for me. I looked at the Conner's test and think he scores highly on most of the hyperactivity statements. But DH has a different experience with him, which I guess is why a dx has to be based on 2 settings. Could all just be anxiety/ attachment stuff. I gather they CAN look quite similar. So, at some point we're going to have top put our nervousness of exposing Monkey Boy to strange professionals to one side (he gets v anxious) and seek an updated dx.
