It's like he's had a hundred cups of coffee. I'm here on my own, so it's very intense. he need a 1:1 attention constantly, more so because he's been ill.
And he's sooooooo LOUD!

Thank you. It helps!
Bless his heart, he is SO loud at the best of times, and when overtired or out of sorts it all goes up a notch. He's a very intense little character, even nursery have commented on how he "keeps your attention and you just have to listen".
Today it was like having a very loud high pitched radio implanted in my ears, while someone did breakdancing 2 inches from my nose! For 3 hours. Sensory overload for mummy! And every time I left the room even for a moment he immediately got up and followed me, 1 foot away from me everything I did.
He was very sweet - he' was playing "mummies and daddies and babies" for that entire time - getting more and more excitable. He's played it every day for about ten days, it's very draining, though overall positive.

Sockthing, it sounds so draining! Bedtime will come ... I remember my DS talking at me non-stop on every car journey - still does sometimes, and he's 14 now! He still 'holds court' at the dinner table (when he deigns to eat with us these days, or if we dare to have visitors). DD, on the other hand, has always been really LOUD and talks very fast (although we are 'so boring' and 'why would she want to talk to us?'). I used to imagine myself in a 'bubble' sometimes, so that I could be bodily present but the words could bounce off ...

Love that bubble idea! I have a constant talker - even in her sleep. I feel your stress!

It must be nearly bedtime, you definitely deserve a treat, Does he sing much, I find of I put thr music on and they sing along I can turn the music up to drown them out a bit and I get to listen to a song I like

Yes kipper talks in his sleep and constantly moves.
He was asleep by 7pm, sweet boy. Too tired for stories.
The "bubble" is a lovely idea; don't think it will work here as he requires me to acknowledge what he says and interact. He will rarely listen to music unless in the car , (his favourite is the Beach Boys!) but loves story audio books, however we've listened to them all so much now he doesn't pay them any attention. Tempting to try gobstoppers though knowing kipper he'd swallow them whole!
The irony is, I bought him some ear defenders before Christmas, in preparation for some family events. Maybe I should dig them our for me!

BBC it's known as here! Babbling bullxxxx constantly. And when there are two of them competing for my attention I just wasn't to scream at them to STOP TALKING. But with littly still struggling with speech and language, can't really do that. She has the quantity, just not the quality. Drives you completely bonkers!

Love the globes, Pluto.
Monkey Boy talks non-stop. And jumps around. And fidgets. I'm training him to breath through his nose! i.e. mouth shut, focusing on breathing deeply through his mouth. I've only tried it when giving him a massage so far, and he won't shut up, but can see the potential for breakfast time!

The irony is, I bought him some ear defenders before Christmas, in preparation for some family events. Maybe I should dig them our for me! Do! I use the x-box headphones sometimes as ear defenders when DD is letting rip! You can still hear and respond to everyone, but the sound is muted and feels slightly distant (maybe like being inside a bubble! ). For me, it helps to bear what has to be borne ...

Oh I sooooo feel your pain!
Pink has verbal diarrhoea a lot and drives me bonkers. I do put the radio/ Ipod on a lot as she is still adapting to a quieter home ( her fc had 2 children, a dog and a budgie).
We do a lot of arts and crafts too which keeps her occupied. Story dvds as you've already mentioned and sometimes "quiet times".
Hubby can switch off. I struggle!

Hope the constant talking has been...um.... a little less constant today.....? Sounds exhausting. The mummy daddy babies game sounds sweet, though maybe not for 10 days straight!
My AD has wanted to play going to school every morning just before she.....goes to school! For about 2 weeks now. Even weekends. She has to be 'James', and I have to be mummy, teacher, baby sister and baby brother and any other classmate. She never tires of it.
But I DO!!

He's replaced it with whining today. Constant whining. It's been a hard day!
Poor Kipper, he's really not himself at all, he's not normally a whiner. But it's been excessive today.
Daffin, I did manage to get 30 seconds of peace: kipper is highly competitive, so I initiated a game of "who can be quiet the longest". A good one to work on!
Sivier - I love the idea of you being all the "extras"... Do you do different voices for each part? You sound like a one-woman show, like that solo Shakespeare performance that was touring a while back.!
Pluto I NEEED those balls!!!!

Ah...the whining...much empathy...
AD is off school sick today and guess what, no school game this morning. I shouldn't be grateful for the respite (as she's poorly) - but I am! And yes my range of voices is being exhausted!
Just visualising you in a Human Hamster Ball, sockthing - not that I've ever met you, but it's still amusing me.....

My BD used to be like that - & followed me around to continue the chat, even to the loo! I did find that I could zone her out, a skill which has proven very useful at work when needed! Now I have to prod her just to get her to talk to me!
