Really had enough now. Simba is so ready to go back to school but they have very helpfully tacked on not one , but two flipping teacher training days, so he isn't back till Wednesday. His general level of behaviour is deteriorating, the volume of the babble is increasing and is almost non stop. The last week has been very intense as we haven't had any play dates so there has just been the two of us. I'm exhausted trying to keep him occupied. To add to the fun they didn't tell us about the teacher days until the middle of Decembers, I have no more leave left this year and no childcare, I have two big deadlines to meet by close on Tuesday and the gizmo that should connect me with the work network to enable me to work at home isn't working. I'm going to have to smuggle Simba into the office tomorrow so the IT guys can fix it and then get back home and try and get him to keep quiet whilst I have a two hour phone conference. Roll on Friday when I don't work and he is at school

Yes I get that..the non stopness of it all is exhausting and draining on every level..we have started playing school just so we can introduce structure and difference to the days..lapwing really likes me being teacher...but I was so looking forward to them returning to pre school just so I could stop listening to incessant talking for a few hours....... I really try to make an effort with the therapeautic parenting, playing storytelling....but I HAVE HAD ENOUGH AFTER 3 WEEKS NON STOP!! Serrakunda...how you manage with one of you I don't know....I have developed a weak bladder and seem to constantly have to go for a wee....just to have 30 seconds respite...Much as I love them I am looking forward to having a few hours off..

Gosh Serrakunda, that sounds heavy going for this coming week and Tuesday deadlines not helpful at all. Hope you can plan something lovely for Friday - and that might just be getting home and back into bed with a book and hot chocolate once Simba's at school!

Yup. I'm holding my breath until nursery starts again tomorrow. DS has been talking, singing and making random noises non-stop. Following me around the house. Refusing to play on his own (normal) etc. His new favourite is repeating himself on and on.....He had chickenpox before Christmas and the baby has had it since between Christmas and New Year, so we have been house bound and playdate-less. Gah! Oh, and he's been waking us up 3 or 4 times a night. Of course in between the times that the baby is awake. DH and I are on our knees. Of course the weather hasn't helped - windy, rainy, muddy - not great for getting out. Serrukunda - hats off to you as a singlie. Good luck with your deadline, getting into the office etc.

Just managed to get access to my office system though not all my inboxes but enough to work tomorrow or should I say today so at least wont have the problem of smuggling Simba into the office. Last time I took him in, to show him where I would be working when I went back to work I was reported for breaching health and safety!

Glad to hear the computer system is playing ball. Reporting you for taking your kid in sounds totally OTT. Sympathetic employer. Not!

I've got both mine off today. One staff training, one because of dispute with County council school transport about a) his safety when travelling with an escort who cannot remember how to do up his straps daily and who in the event of an emergency would be clueless!! and b) the 6th change in escort/taxi driver since May!!!! So looks like he may be off all week whilst I send endless emails, letters and scream and rant down the telephone. Of course the change in staff bombshell was dropped on the last day of term so that there was no one within 50 miles of an office even if they did want to do something as miraculous as listen to a parent! Happy New Year!!!

Hope you manage to get through tomorrow! Mine went back today (as did I) and when I came home I was greeted with two cheery girls who shared their news without snapping at each other and are now sharing a sofa - such friendly cooperation was unimaginable yesterday, or the day before, or the day before that..... They definitely needed to go back!
