Has anyone done or started the home study for the second time under the new (quicker) regulations? I'd be interested in how it works now - if you want to post here or PM me?

We aren't quite at the stage where we are sure about this yet! But we thought we'd ask if anyone had any experiences to share.

Hi I typed out a long response but lost it, we adopted twice under old system and have just had matching panel for no3, comes home next thur!! It was child specific, sibling adoption, do might be different. We needed to fill in new expression of interest and have initial visit from an independent sw, not ours so as to be impartial. Do all Medicals, references, crbs, borough checks again. We needed 6 not 4 references this time, although thy only visited 4. We had our sw, who we have been working with for ages so only had two home visits to catch up on life post adoption abd then they copied and pasted all original info into new PAR. We approached la at the end of August and intros strt Monday If you want to know a y more pm me Good luck

I havn't gone thro the process for a second time.... But a friend of mine has....
Three years on they wanted a sib for their ds....
The process was harder they said coz ds had to be prepared & then an appropriate match found..... It all took ( I'm sorry to say ) much longer than the first time around..... They were older by then as parents so they figured that may have had something to do with it..... Some s/w wanted children to be only ones & not have ready made sibs...
They found the process that time much much harder.... It was not as easy when they got down to it as they hoped being second timers.....
Hope I havn't put you off xx

We are going through the process for the second time under the new regulations and it really doesn't seem like much has changed. We have the same SW and she has used most of the info on our 1st PAR and seems to have cut and pasted it directly on to the new form. We met with her about 5 times to talk about our AD and parenting and effects of another child on our family, sibling rivalry etc
So far 4 months with panel in 3 weeks. Fairly similar timescales to last time 2 years ago. We have also had our medical's and CRB's redone and attended some Post Adoption Centre training in preparation.
Hope it all goes well
Best wishes
LB x

Thanks everyone, we are still not sure about this, though to be actually SPECIFIC I am sure but hubby is not!
chotimonkey, our SW seemed to be describing something pretty similar to yours - she said it's mainly checks, not much actual HS, and no prep. From initial application to panel it needs to be 4 months.

We've just started Part 1 second time round, seems pretty much like the process we went through under the old system. I think second time round it probably will be more complicated and I'm certainly not expecting it to be a faster process. Luckily we appear to have a good SW which will hopefully help.

orange3, it has to be faster - the new regulations say 4 months for the new process. We are just starting it now but we are having our medicals first and once we submit the application they have to approve us in 4 months.

Unfortunately it's much much more complicated than that!
We have to pass our medicals because there is an "issue" so we have to do them first. And there is an urgency to this which, if we do go ahead, I will explain, but I can't explain now.
