Not even nearly ready - not even for upcoming birthdays!
Can we please delay it a bit this year? I should be ready around mid January.

We have been in the middle of an extension for months......dust , dust, dust, no kitchen ... I have told Mr Mudlark if it is not finished at least two weeks before Christmas we will be going to Pizza Hut....
But a part from that I am looking forward to my very favourite time of year!

Because of small dude coming soon for the first time ever I bought all the wider families presents in October... then sent November in smug amazement! Havenโt bought any pressies for the kids and mr monkey yet... like to leave that till theyโve written their letters to Santa and then I can go straight on amazon and order them! Christmas feels more manageable this year, have been using little dude as an excuse to say no to all sorts of things, so Christmas will be just the things we really really want... which is how it should be, but never is

I'm just about done, waiting for deliveries
I went to collect a parcel from Next last night and they have some great Santa/Mrs Santa gnomes - I'm desperate to get them but don't feel I can justify ยฃ50 on a pair of matching gnomes. I'm hoping for Black Friday discount

Just realised their elves need to be found and so begins the nightly racking of brain for something amusing/endearing/magical/hilarious for them to be found doing the next morning. We started the elf on the shelf several years ago. they adored it, and actually it really helped them to relax, spreading the anticipation over every day of December. Years on after exhausting all ideas I am now somewhat reluctantly accepting they apparantlt 'still believe' in the elves! I have done nothing else, not even got an advent calendar!

Mr monkey and I refer to it as โthat b*****^d elf from the 3rd onwards... By the end the โbagsyโ system is in place.... whenever weโve got into bed and forgotten, the first person to say โbagsy notโis supposed to win Abd the other do the elf... so mature ๐๐

No elves here - and only Christmas prep done is online delivery booked (for 21st as by time I could get in this morning latest I could do), advent calendar purchased and new tree as we binned old one last year. Think we have decided what we are getting people but not started on shopping yet - blame a stupidly busy semester at work and a son suffering with separation anxiety (not a good combination).
