Does anyone have any experience of putting an EPAC in place? I am about to have a meeting with the head teacher about it as I think it may help to have an individual, child-focused strategy in place, as well as keeping all records together to use when transitioning into the next school year with different teachers etc.

Hi, In our experience primary school was a bit of a nightmare tbh..
I think a 'reasonable' head & teaching staff would welcome the support & extra input the EPAC can give teaching professionals..
It can work well as PAS can help with possible resources to support school with extra needs the child/ren have.
S/w has always attended the meetings for us with me.. Give it a go if you have a 'normal' reasonable & supportive school....
Hth.... do post any specific Q's if you have any....

Thanks, Moo. We don’t actually have a SW for our little boy. (He’s been with us for 5 years.) Do PAS need to be involved in creating/ putting the EPAC into place? I think the school are ok. Whenever I ask for meetings they always see me quickly and he has ELSA support 1-2-1 and in a group setting.

Wow that sounds great school sound 'normal'! & supportive very jealous this end xx
We are 11 years in & yes I do have a very good supportive relationship with PAS....
I understood that a sw was required, but cannot say definitively if ss are required, but they have been for us..
Often I think 'professionals' have a need to confirm issues with other professionals, plus as I suggested above there is often support that ss can offer to school which school love!
Ss have been very supportive, we are lucky in that, but they have been essential when accessing the asf....
Good Luck....

Thanks Moo. I feel a bit SW’d out at the moment, as our daughter has only been placed with us for a couple of months. I want to get the Adoption no 2 arranged first before accessing PAS for our son, as there is still much outstanding stuff we are waiting for for our new little one IYKWIM.

Thanks, yes I’m inclined to agree with you. This time around I’m not in a rush for the AO. Many things still outstanding: LLL Life Story Book Letter Box Contact arrangements At some point maternal grandma was in contact with child SW but unfortunately LO is now on her 6th SW (in less than 12 months!) and no records can be found of contact details.... Not impressed at all

A little update: still waiting for LLL and Life Story Book. Thought we’d better put the adoption application in for our new little girl, as otherwise we’d be waiting forever and would need to continue with having many more SW visits.... Got a court date in Nov. Hope it all goes through...

Got meeting on Tuesday re Pupil Premium and EPAC for 5 yr old. I think PP just goes into the general fund..... The EPAC could potentially contain some very personal info pre placement which I’m not comfortable sharing on paper with the school. I wonder if I could suggest an “EPAC - LIGHT” ?!

Hi scaredycats...
In our experience we did not share anything too tuff or personal... now into secondary we have shared because they are understanding & in no way judgemental like the knowalls in primary were.... 😱
I would urge you not worry.... I take the view that it is 'need to know' if they, as our primary were, judgemental, refuse to 'believe' I would recommend telling that which they will listen/understand only... it is totally your call, noone can force you to disclose anything you don't want to....
Good Luck.... I think ppp is £2.300, but school can use it not exclusively for your child... ie share it with other needy challenged children... but... the spending of the money has to be 'trackable' as such school will have prove & isolate how it has benefitted your child.... I understand from some lucky parents their school has asked them what they would like the money spent on! You might get lucky.... 😉 ...
Congratulations On Your Court Date XXX
