I don't know if any of you saw Colin Hegarty on the news last night? A young maths teacher who gave up his job as an accountant to specialise in teaching maths. He has set up a website for school kids to access from home, to practice their maths and it is free to use. I visited the site last night and was very impressed by it. It covers junior school right up to A levels and you can click on your childs year and do work from the syllabus. It is modern and funky and very well laid out. Gives scores and encouragement as you do the problems and if you get one wrong, it shows you step by step, how to work out the correct answer. I thought it was a really good site which is why I am posting the link on here in case any of you want to have a look mathswebsite.com/There is also a link to their Youtube videos. He is up for an award for being teacher of the year which if he wins he gets a million dollars which he says he will use to promote maths learning round the world. A really nice enthusiastic teacher, doing it for all the right reasons. Hope he wins.
