My AD had another adopted child for a sleepover last night - we have known them for several years. Girls have always got on. However- not q so this time . My AD noticed the 'difference' in other girl. Noticed the constant lies, the incessant chat - some of it inappropriate in my daughters eyes, the habit of other child wanting to rummage through my AD's belongings, the other child wanting to be in control....
Well, all classic attachment disorder, which all our children have to some extent. This other child is more disabled by her attachment disorder. But how strange my AD should notice, rather than identify with these traits. I did tell AD that she has done/does these things too at times. Her response - 'not like THAT, mum & NOT as bad'.
She has decided the other girl is v irritating (!) and doesn't want another sleep over!!
Suffice to say, I have explained a bit about attachment disorder, but I have tried v hard to find some child friendly leaflets on line. All I could find was one by OAASIS, but it wasn't ideal.
Does anyone know of some child friendly attachment literature for a tweenager, please?
