Hi Everyone, This was mentioned on the old AUK forum, but can't find anything here, apologies if I'm cross posting.
We're going to MP next month and our little boy will be just over 1 when it comes to intros.
Our SW hasn't really mentioned making a book or DVD but I would like to. I just don't know when. Should we take it to MP so LO can have it then, or do you have to wait until ratification/planning meeting?

Hi bumble
Your family books should be taken to matching panel, well they are in our areas, MP will have a nosey at it and then if the decision is unanimous then the book would be passed onto foster carer to be used with the child!
Hope that helps, personally if your SW hasn't mentioned it to you I would be onto them asking whether they want to approve it before panel and ask them for recommendations for a child of that age what the norm is to out in it, they should really be guiding you through this already nerve wracking time!

I think the TOMY butterfly talking photo book is good for LO you can put photos in it and record your voice on each page me and hubby just took it in turns to talk about each photo ie hollo I am mummy & this is your new bed room can you see the teddy on your bed and so on . We then took the teddy from photo with us on first day of intros teddy was actually in every photo FP xx

Thanks for the advice, I've seen that Tokoloshe has added a thread taken from the old forum with even more words of wisdom.

I can't seem to find the thread by Toko...?
We need to make a book for panel on the 4th November. I wanted to get one printed up properly but DH wants to make a more scarp-booky sort of affair with cut out pics of LOs fave characters etc... so we are opting for the latter.
I wondered what kind of tone others had used in their books? LO is 6 and has a good memory of BM plus 2 x FCs whom he adores. He is apparently looking forward to having his own new mummy and daddy (his sister was adopted) but I am worrying (probably unnecessarily) about what words / tone to use...
Should we go down the route of 'we are your new mummy and daddy - mummy X and daddy y'? or more like 'we would like to be your new mummy and daddy...'? or even just 'we are x and y and we would love it if you came and lived with us'?
Similarly, 'this is your new bedroom' or 'this bedroom is all ready for a little boy' etc?
We really want to get this right - we know he has a good understanding of what is going on but I wonder whether using definite language might be too scarey... or whether leaving it too open might lead him to say he doesn't want to come!
Any advice really appreciated! Ax

We did ours with definite language but then again Sqk is only 2. Still means he recognised everything
