Well, after a night in a Premier Inn, and a limp bacon roll, and too hot coffee, I can say that today was the best day ever.... after marrying Mrs Goat of course
Our Matching Panel said yes, so we are matched with a Little Boy (5)
We start intros at the other end of the country in mid Jan.
Its been a long time to finally become a Dad, but after a chilled out Xmas I can't wait to grab him.
I am taking a whole year off work too, so not that I am counting, I have exactly 9 shifts left. Mrs Goat is slightly apprehensive about the gruel I may serve up, and shoddy creases in the shirt sleeves, but she will have to get by!
I missed my works party today (which I organised) so the little bugger is already inconviencing me and he hasn't moved in.... bless.
Anyway, a little celebration with the family on Saturday will be great after 10 years of waiting I think we deserve a glass of Black Tower each.
xx

Oh, wow congratulations Mr & Mrs Goat - what a great early Christmas present. How fab that you are able to take a year off to throw yourself into fatherhood that's brilliant and I'm sure your "kid" will benefit hugely from this. Am looking forward to hearing about intro's etc from a male perspective, as it seems to be mainly us mums who do the posting round here. Hope you and Mrs Goat opened a bottle of bubbly last night.

Thank you MOO and JMK
Mrs Goat always has a cupboard full of potions, so I will have a little nose about. The Kid (haha) was off school today apparently with a virus I think. Best get it out now!
As for the intros diary, not sure I'm Samuel Pepys, but I look forward to reporting on our early days together. I am happy with the timings really. My year off will finish after our first Christmas together, when hopefully he will be settled in a bit
I played Golf today, badly, and I didn't care.... too busy smiling.
Mrs G is out on the lash at her works do tonight. Her work mates are so excited, I don't think she will be home until Kebab o'cock.

I hope I don't start counting down the days to going back too early.
Don't get me wrong, I love my job, but it can wait for a year!

What "Golf" and "going on the lash" - blimey your lives are going to change big time. Golf will be out the window unless you can persuade/bribe your "kid" to act as a caddy and pull the trolley round, mind you 5.5 is a bit young for that Going on the lash - not advisable on a regular basis when you have a lively 5 year old jumping into your bed in the early hours. Hangovers and kids are a lethal combination lol Seriously though, do try and make time for an adult "date" at least once a month once your kid is settled in. It really is important to keep you both sane. I see you've adopted the name "kid" which I think is really cute, and if your Northern, he will be "our kid" in no time. Go on then work out how many sleeps you've got left until you meet him and we can count down with you.

Thank you for your kind words Esty, Tokoloshe, and flower pot
Curiosity, I hope the transition goes well, how will it be heading back o work?
Jmk, can't really risk Golf too soon. He will probably beat me at 5 years old. We are hoping once Grandparents are in the mix we can shot out for a spot of lunch once in a while. Not really bothered by boozy nights out, probably for the best looking a most of our mates who dream of sleep more than a beer!
Oysterbabe, very funny!

The children still get a bit anxy when I'm out more than an hour- teens and their mobiles can be a gift I really hope all goes very well in the new year

Congratulations on the match Goat. I am currently just getting the energy together to get up - DH has Sqk downstairs. We did discuss sharing parental leave but because of his job being reliant on him being him (pharmacist manager) it just wouldn't work. Looking forward to reding about your Intros.

Thanks Gilreth,
I am lucky that when I go back I am on shift work so we will share parenting. I will be at home 4 days which will be nice after the year of.
