ds2 likes to be prepared and gets worried by many things so this predicted storm is causing him concern. SO this morning he has his waterproofs and storm jacket on clearing the garden of any lose debris. The small recycling bins are in the house, the large bins are tied to the hedge. He has brought in the camping stove with 7 cylinders of spare gas. there are torches with spare batteries in every room with copious tealights- have not told him he has forgotten the lighters for said candles . Bedding is downstairs incase of goodness knows why. Later he is buying milk. I drew the line at his bike being in the house ( is in the shed ) and the green house being dismantled what else will he think off?

he has now gone to buy some kievs from Asda so he has food. Never mind I have some in the freezer but HOW WILL I COOK THEM IF WE HAVE NO ELECTRICITY And he wants to buy a duck not the bird ;)but the amphibious type that goes on land and water so he can move about. as I type ds2 has phoned to say he is buying coke(thats the drink stuff not any other kind ) incase we run out of water!!! He doesn't like coke??? shadow I was going to suggest we swop children for the day but that won't work so do you want me to kindly ask the storm to head your way?

Giving me the giggles!!!
At least it shows consequential thinking.... & forward planning... I like it.....
Mind you I am now getting anxious that he may be right & me wrong..... You can never be too careful.....
Not all to sure about the coke angle however.... Perhaps he had better save it till the eye of the storm.....
Gonna check it out again think we are expected to be worst hit here.....
Sooo many trees hope the moos are ok......
Keep battening down the hatches guys ( well ham ds2 ........ ham should you suggest baking Xtra provisions in case you are not found for a few days??.?.... )

Being the light sleeper that I am (I can hear the grass growing, no really!) I did hear some amazing swirly tornado type gusts last night (think Dorothy). I quite like the excitement of storms, as long as I don't have to venture out anywhere and can lie in bed just listening feeling safe and comfy under my duvet. Now if the internet went down that would be a DISASTER!!!!
Food I can do without, (have plenty of fat reserves), but no Broadband and I'd be suicidal.

I am currently fielding my mums anxiousness against my sons anxiousness!
So, mum saying, maybe we best not risk going out tomorrow there could be trees down everywhere. Ds, what trees down. Me, sometimes trees fall down when it's windy, but we don't have to worry about that Mum, I remember the last big storm, blew some windows in. Ds, what windows blew in, here? Me, no this was a long time ago, those windows were old, ours won't blow in. Mum, still think we should stay in tomorrow, best not risk it Ds, risk what? Will we get hit by a tree? Me, no, all the trees around us are too far away. Mum, I might get blown off my feet if I walk up here in the morning. Me, I'll get you a broomstick
Ok that last one was wishful thinking, I actually said I'd go get her IF it was not too bad out IF there are no trees down and IF there is no flooding. We are not planning on going out until 11, we should be able to make a decision by then.... Sheesh!

Giggling again!!!
Remember the last one in October '80 something.....Michael Fish famously denied that it was gonna be very windy!! Heeheehee..... Then look what went & happened!!!! Think it was better with "no panic time!! ". Mind you I would not be getting such great giggles if that were the case!!!!
Stay safe all....no tree house building eh!

Not having seen the news today I thought it had hit us last night, ahead of schedule. It was pretty gusty & rainy throughout the night & kept me awake. Goodness knows what'll happen tonight. I remember the Michael Fish storm of 87 very well. I was house-sharing in London; we all woke up late because the power cut had stopped our clock radios going off (all the rage in the 80s) and then walked miles into work. We were then rewarded by no electricity at work so we just had to go to the local pub which was beautifully lit by candles. Power came back on just in time to go home! I have visions, Ham, of you all sitting in a newly built bunker surrounded by bottles of coke & tins of food. Good on him though - my dd just assumes I'll do everything...

Hope everyone is surviving the storm and is safe this morning.
Not too bad in my area of Surrey so far, although weather reports said we are going to get the worst between 8-10am so it might get worse. I slept through the night so it can't have been that bad as I am very light sleeper. The school alarm has just gone off though, set off by the wind. Just glad I don't have to venture out or try and get into London today.
Keep safe.
