So about 10 months after Paddington first came home, we have our adoption order and today was the Celebration Hearing! πΎπ₯
It was...emotional, hectic and at times quite wonderful.
Emotional for Paddington all day really. Waiting for a 2:40pm hearing meant staying in our PJs until after lunch because no clothes but our special hearing outfit were acceptable. He worried perpetually about whether everyone would come. That included checking with Mr Brar that he would be coming, while they went to the loo at the court.... And needing lots of cuddles and time away from the table during our "meal" afterwards. Mr Bear and me are still winding down from the secondary emotion of it all. Paddington went out like a light at bedtime.
Hectic because.... well Paddington's two sisters came and the "meal" afterwards was ice cream sundaes and waffles at a desert place. So they were delighted to see each other, all dressed up and then we added sugar. To be honest we should have had our very new parenting a**** handed to us for going with that combo. My defense is that's what we did for Paddington's sisters Celebration Hearing in November. So (a) that's exactly what Paddington wanted; and (b) we did know what we were getting ourselves into.
Wonderful for all the moments Paddington whispered to me or Mr Bear that this was the best day, or that he loved us or that we were the best Mum/Dad. ππ

Oh how wonderful to read Mrs B.....
Sounds like it was an amazing day how wonderful....
Brings back my own wonderful memories all those many many years ago.... funnily enough baa & I were only yesterday reminiscing about the day we drove to see the 'man called judge'. ......
baa said you mean the 'Judge' & I laughed & laughed because they were so tiny at that time & just couldn't understand who this very very important person was....asked non stop Q's about him before we got there.... It took so much explaining, but like you we had a big party celebration & many many special people to share it with it was & still is a wonderful memory ( for baa very clearly too as he really did enjoy talking about it... he was only 3 at the time but clearly remembers everything especially party poppers which he had never heard before!?)
So lovely thank-you for sharing.....
Congatulatuations........

Thanks All!
The weekend has been lovely and relaxed. Paddington had got a bit worked up in the run up. But the day going well and seeing everyone has settled us.
We're now just enjoying a lazy Sunday the 3 of us. And tomorrow Paddington and Mr Bear are having a boys trip to an animal park.
