Anyone had experience with the PBS and the Thrive assessment? They have started preliminary observations with AS (7). Seem to know what they’re talking about. Hoping they will help the school support him to be able to stay in the classroom and remain regulated throughout the day.

Yes, snooz had 24 sessions with Thrive, at school.
it seemed to do him good.
the therapist said “wow, he really kept me on my toes” 😁

Thank you, Sooz. Our boy (7) has just started being able to be back in the classroom again thanks to a nurture group and some good transition work going from infants to juniors. It is a huge effort for him. And he’s been lashing out during play times so the PBS devised a split break time system so he has time eating, time playing outside supervised, and time inside playing and getting regulated ready to go back into class. Let’s hope it works, very stressful having parents coming up to me telling me that he has hurt their child whilst at school.

Not had Thrive but split playtimes worked well for us so hopefully will for you too. Sounds like they are on the right track with it.

Yes, both mine had Thrive assessments and then weekly thrive sessions for their whole time at primary school, it was the difference, I believe, between them managing school and not managing school -
I found it useful to meet with the thrive practitioner every half term to go through the initial assessment to see if we needed to tweak it.
I so wish they used it at the secondary school they are now at!

Thanks for the info. He’s just had the first assessment which put him at the “Thinking” level (18 months - 3 years). He’s 7 bless him. No wonder he’s struggling.
