So we've been accepted by our preferred agency and given dates for our first training sessions. They're in June so not too soon and not too far off. Feels good; but also quite real. Quietly happy and also very nervous.

It's an odd feeling when it feels 'real' isn't it! It will get even 'realer' ! Good luck x

First day of stage 1 training done!
It was great. Really well organised and lovely to see / hear from other prospective adopters. Plus while it dealt with potentially challenging topics (attachment issues, contact and case studies on looked after children) nothing was a surprise. So feels like our research has been ok.
Also our agency (PACT) have been scarily efficient. All our references have been collected DBS checks etc all done, and our medical has just been booked for the end of the month.
We're also meeting up with two separate sets of local adopters this coming week to get their thoughts and perspectives. And a good number of my work colleagues are helping us out by letting us babysit (as that's what our agency have asked us to focus on for stage 1).
So it's all happening now! Looking forward to tomorrow which is a good feeling.

Hi Everyone
We had our first meeting with our assigned social worker today. We're officially into stage 2!
Medicals and LA searches took time but we got here.
We're also meeting up with our training buddies this coming Sunday. Our training was all online, so it will be lovely to meet in person for the first time.
Hope everyone is well.

Oh wow! Lovely to hear how things are moving forward.
The 'moving slowly/taking a while' is likely to become a theme right through to placement so learning coping strategies for that now will prove helpful.
Enjoy meeting real people in person!

Great News Mrs Bear... I'm with Leo get used to snail speed, stop start, life in neutral, it sucks but the end certainly justifies the means 😉 ....
Great times.... keep posting, it brings back such fantastic memories that I just cannot believe how fffast the time has flown....

Thanks guys! So long as we're moving forward then I'm ok with going slow.
Our only aim for this year was to try and get approved. Our social worker is aiming for us to go to approval panel mid-November, so we're right on target and really ok if that slips.
After all, once we get our approval we have to really become parents at some point!
